Courtyard by Marriott Newport News Yorktown

First room obviously hadn't been cleaned and sheets hadn't been changed. Deep stains noted on couch cushions and pullout was filthy. Mgt gave us another room which was somewhat cleaner but sofa still deeply stained. Mgt comped an extra room for our third person, but the hotel quality and cleanliness gone significantly downhill. Location and proximity to good dining options are the main positives if you have no other choice. Overall, do not recommend until Marriott pays attention to the property and brings it up to standard.

Location is perfectly convenient around eating places. The hotel is definitely not Marriot standards. Upon arrival I noticed the filthy carpet in hallway. The room ac unit was noisy, the bathroom faucets and bathtub showed rust spots, a hole in wall behind door, the room tv is not positioned to watch while lying in bed, the mattress was worn, dirty bathroom door handle.. among other things. We initially booked for 2 nights. After our disappointment, we changed our reservation to 1 night. Definitely a bad representation for the prestige Marriot.

One of the worst Marriott experiences. Stayed 3 nights. Holes in the bathroom ceiling, spiders in the bathroom, very saggy bed and not very clean. The room was in need of an upgrade. The bottom of the A/C was falling off. I have stayed at many Marriott’s, this one needs a total overhaul.

Reserved a couple of rooms so the family could attend graduation ceremonies at Christopher Newport University. While we reserved early, we still ended up paying jacked-up rates well beyond the value this property provided. I understand market pricing, but this was ridiculous ... and this was the least expensive property in the area. The rooms were nice, and clean, though the beds were soft and not up to the usual Marriott brand standard. Otherwise, a fine stay, with pleasant staff.

Clean hotel. Comfortable beds. the staff was amazing. Could be less expensive because you are paying for the area and not the rooms, but all in all, the hotel is nice. did not get my points for staying here two nights. If they had a restaurant it would be even better.
