Upon check-in we were told that housekeeping was every other day. After no one cleaned our room after the 2nd night we stopped at the front desk and were informed it would be cleaned later in the day. When we returned in the evening the room was still not cleaned. We called the desk and were told housekeeping was gone for the day... new towels were brought to our room as the others were still wet on the bathroom floor. The breakfast has much to be desired. The staff is not proactive. Everyday we needed to tell them the coffee dispenser was empty and they need to put out bowls etc. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told they do not arrive until 9:30am. A very poorly run hotel... hard to believe it is associated with Hilton.

We enjoyed our stay at the Home2Suites by Hilton Charlottesville Downtown in July. We were visiting for an event that was held downtown and choose this property primarily for its proximity to the event. It did not disappoint. The rooms were clean and spacious. Perhaps I am easily impressed, but the light in the bathroom made my day. I could see! For whatever reason, this is an often overlooked element to a hotel stay that can really bug me sometimes, though it hasn't ruined any stays or anything. It just really is nice to have lighting in the shower area. The shower was also clean, had great pressure, and good temperature control as well. Parking was fairly easy to access and only $8/night which isn't bad for a downtown area, even in a smaller town. Breakfast in the morning had plenty of both hot and cold options available and we enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Location, while close to downtown, is not convenient for walking. Inside is a ghost town - one person working alone. Doesnât have a welcoming feel at all. Beware, unless you walk to this hotel (unlikely) they have a parking fee of $10 a night that they tack onto the rate you paid. I wouldnât recommend this hotel, there are much better options nearby.

I am updating a review I submitted previously. It is copied below for reference. I have downgraded my review to one star. We had just moved our daughter, who is a UVA grad student, to a new apartment. We were hot and tired and decided to get a room rather than drive the moving truck back late at night. We met Nicole at the night desk (shorter in stature, mid-length dark hair, maybe in her late 30's or early 40's). My husband checked us in. She was unsmiling, never greeted us at all, and was matter of fact - not pleasant. I confirmed that a Hilton Honors card was on file for our stay. She told me that the hotel had no extra room cards since there were three of us. We checked in, went to the room, and then I asked my husband to get us water because we hadn't been offered any, and there was none in the room. There were rows of water and baskets of crackers at the reception desk. He came back to the room shortly thereafter and told me that she said that the water was for Diamond Club members only. He asked her "so you are not going to give us any water?" And she said nothing to him with a smirk on her face. He came back to the room and told me what happened. Since Nicole was alone, he did not escalate the issue further because he did not want to get into an argument or be accused of anything. I travel frequently for work, and I know that as a Silver member I am entitled to free bottled water during my stay. I am also a Director and understand the importance of customer service. I took my silver membership card and went down to the front desk. Nicole was not at the desk and was occupied with another couple. I came back a few minutes later and a younger attendant was at the desk. Nicole stopped what she was doing with the other couple to see what I wanted. I showed the young lady my card and asked for a bottle of water. I was also prepared with the Hilton Rewards chart on my phone to show that free bottled water was a Silver Rewards perk, but she never even looked at it. She just smiled and said, âof course.â She is to be commended because it cost her nothing to be kind to a thirsty and weary traveler at 11:30 at night. I only wish I knew her name. UPDATE: After the rude treatment by the hotel front desk receptionist, we were retaliated against by this same staff person. Without our knowledge or permission, she added a second night's stay to our bill and a few other items that we did not receive to inflate our bill. Today we were able to talk to the hotel and after some back and forth, we were able to prove in the app that we only reserved one night. I called Hilton customer service and they were helpful. I am awaiting word from them about a resolution to the manner. I also expect a call from the manager because we experienced fraud and abuse of power. hope that the manager relieves this person of her job. The whole experience put a very bad taste in my mouth because I feel like we were targeted from the moment we walked in the door. The extra charges on my husband's credit card confirmed this in my mind. It clouded our stay and I am very disappointed in this experience at a Hilton property We travel to Charlottesville frequently, but I donât think we will be back.

Im not one to write reviews, but after all the poor reviews I scanned on the day of my arrival, I have to say my stay was very pleasant! The lobby, elevators, and hallways were clean and quiet. The room was large and perfect for my needs. The sleep (and pillows!) were lovely. Breakfast included several healthy options. The staff were friendly and helpful, kudos to Edie for a nice chat at the desk in the morning. I def will come back!
