Homewood Suites Houston Downtown

Our first room was a king size bed suite on the 12th floor. The room had a very strong musk smell. We lit a candle and dealt with it as there were no other rooms available. The reason we wanted to move to the other side of the building is that there is a public parking lot on the street which is across the street from the hotel; the king suites are overlooking that lot. On Friday night, a parking lot party began and lasted until around 2-3AM. We could hear the cars revving their engines and the music blaring in our 12th floor closed windows room. The front desk stated that others have complained. They call the police to disperse the partyers but they return. It's an ongoing issue. The following day, we were able to move to another room away from the parking lot. I tried out the sofa bed but sleeping on a bed of nails would have been more comfortable. It felt as if there was no padding on top of the springs. I closed up the bed and just slept on the sofa.

I had no complaints with my stay at this hotel. Water pressure was great and the beds were comfortable. Tameka is a gem. She was very helpful, professional and customer service oriented. Nice selection of foods for breakfast. There was something for everyone.The gentleman that picks up the used dishes and wipes off the breakfast tables needs to be commended also. Our toilet stopped up and maintenance came quickly. The valet staff was courteous and prompt. Usually, I can find something to complain about, but not here.

We booked our room in advance and when check in came they said they "overbooked" and put us in a moldy room. Our room was not cleaned properly, personal items where still left behind and in the fridge. Cigar filling was left on the table in plain sight. Black mold was in all in the room and you can smell the mold. There was no clean trash/ missing trash bags. Fingerprints/smudges all over the fridge. Smudges all over the end tables by the bed. The only great thing about the place was the location for Astros game.

Came to Houston for couple of games at Minute Maid Park and this hotel worked out great for that. It is only a couple of blocks from the park. Before and after games there is enough foot traffic so it is safe to walk even with families. All staff members that we dealt with were VERY HELPFUL! We stayed in king suite in room 826. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Only drawback was street noise. If in area would stay here again just not on street side.

Stay somewhere else! The road next to the hotel is a nighttime racetrack. Souped up cars wait for the light to change to red so they can race down the street. ALL NIGHT LONG! Plus beds are hard as a rock and only one set of elevators worked our whole stay. We had to get to downstairs with a trip guided by staff through the laundry and kitchen. (The stairs don’t go all the way down - fire hazard?!) And our dishwasher was full of dirty dishes from another guest that smelled horrible. Don’t know how long they had been in there but made me wonder about the cleanliness of the room. I’ve always stayed at Homewood Suites but this one is bad!
