Teens running around knocking on doors on 6th floor in the middle of the night on April 24 and 25. Called and told front dear. Didn’t do a thing. Lack of security and hotel staff. Past midnight there was no one a front desk. It is really disappointing to pay USD400 plus a night. It it feels worst than a dorm. NOISY. AVOID!

Positives: 1. Great location 2. Most staff are super friendly (hence, the word “most.”) 3. Cool pool, with a great city view 4. Friendly valet Negatives: 1. We were harassed at the bar by a regular, who was a non hotel guest. We’re pretty sure the Bartender (Jessica) put his drinks on our tab, and the hotel has refused to give us an itemized receipt. 2. The Front Desk Agent on January 31, used profanity towards me, while I was going into the elevator. In fact, I felt threatened. 3. When I got to the room, my wife called to ask her why, and wanted the name of the G.M. She refused to give her this information. 4. After my wife filed a complaint with the hotel, Eric Smith called her a few days later (Eric Smith is not the G.M.) and made excuses for the employee that used profanity. He said that “loss prevention” went up to our room (loss prevention!?) and eavesdropped. When my wife asked why, Mr. Smith responded with “Uh, um, well it’s our hotel.” This is illegal- to listen in on our private conversations, in OUR room! Again, we were harassed at the bar- charges that Mr. Smith refuses to explain, and an overt act of invasion of privacy. This matter is far from over!

We're throwing a Christmas party at Nick and Sam's, so we booked the Marriott Uptown to be close. I have 55 people staying here at least 2 nights each, so I got upgraded to their "presidential suite". Well, it's not fit for any president or anyone that wants a clean, functioning room. Heat in the living area does not work. Called hotel engineering who did nothing and promised to return with space heaters. He didn't. Stopped at the front desk where they promised to address it. Again, nothing. I have a 9 month old who has to stay in the bedroom where the heat is blazing. The hotel could not care less. The "president's" bed is a queen size mattress on a king frame. So odd. 2 disgustingly thin and scratchy towels were what was awaiting us in the bathroom. My wife asked for more towels the next day, gave the housekeeping person $20 and then got.... 2 scratchy, thin towels! Couch has 2 disgusting white stains on it. So gross!!! But! We did get two 8 ounce bottles of water in the room, so I guess that makes up for everything!! This place is a joke!!! MUCH better hotels around the corner from here!

** This is an update to a previous review that I had deleted after continuing to experience problems during my stay here. If you're a picky road warrior, you know it's always a risk staying at a regular branded Hilton or Marriott. But I took the risk on this one as it was a fairly brand-new property and next door to the Katy Trail (which I love) and in a quiet neighborhood of Dallas. I should've paid more attention to the sporadic reviews and taken better heed, and instead paid a little more to stay at least at the nearby JW Marriott or Ritz- however I succumbed to my pseudo frugalness as this was such a long stay- we were here for a full 2 weeks. Having a filthy, stained towel that was part of the towel set up in the bathroom at check-in, and giving it back to the staff and then receiving it back by them 20 minutes later says at all. This is a true story, there's no elaboration on this and it was truly surreal and bizarre. No carpets in the rooms (which a lot of Marriotts are doing these days after renovations or on newly built properties) and unfortunately you can hear people above you as they walk around the room which is very disturbing. An incredibly rude and surly bartender in the lobby lounge that not only greatly upset me one night while ordering food, but a couple days later absolutely upset my spouse while they were by themselves, totally unaware that I had the same experience 2 evening prior. We are two completely different people, with different personalities, not to mention two completely different days so this woman was the common denominator in the situation. And what made it even worse were the subsequent days of the stay; as her "post" is in the middle of the lobby/"great room"- it was an uncomfortable situation every time we returned "home" into the property, as we clearly and rightfully had complained about her. We don't use housekeeping services, rather we call when we need something and I specifically called down one of the days to have housekeeping service performed. I was promised it would happen and nobody ever showed up. This is a Mickey Mouse hotel, and the regular prices that they charge are literally just a fraction below the JW and the Ritz. Thank God we had a long-term stay rate but it still didn't make it bearable.

Ms. Evette and Ms. Toni, the front desk receptionists, were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and warm. They made my check-in and extra day stay smooth and easy. I commend them for their excellent service. The hotel is located in one of the best areas in Dallas and is extremely nice and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a great hotel in a fantastic location. Lastly, the valet service made retrieving my car quick and effortless. I am very grateful for that. This hotel is now my go to spot whenever visiting Dallas. Thank you Marriott Uptown!!!
