Holiday Inn Express & Suites Amarillo West an IHG Hotel

This hotel is great!! The staff is friendly courteously. The rooms are very clean and newly remodeled with nice soft beds. The pillows are great with firm to soft. The bathroom are very clean. This is a must stay hotel that will be my continue to stay at when I come here. The area has great choices for food from fast food to dining.

It had snowed several inches two days before we arrived. Not one scoop of snow within the entire city of Amarillo was removed. It had partially meltedd and re froze. We had trouble walking or driving anywhere on the hotel property. 6 inches of frozen slush everywhere. Our car was damaged by frozen ice tearing the belly pan off from underneath the car. It goes in for repair on 15January 2025. No estimate on cost of damages yet. I have never seen such irrresponsible snow removal in all my life. The parking lot was totally unuseable.All resterants were closed when they advertised as open. Probably due to snow. We should have received a message from the hotel since they had a couple days notice. Interior activity in hotel was fair to good.

Great Holiday Inn Express with perfect indoor pool, hot-tub and gym. We had to stay there two nights because of bad snow conditions and the manager and staff were very accommodating and helpful, and extra food was also available because of the situation. Room-service were fantastic changing our sheets and towels for us for the extra night. Great location for driving between Texas and New Mexico.

We booked a room through Expedia, we booked a ONE king or queen room, paid online and when we arrived we were checked in, after checking in we were told that we were getting a 2 bed standard room which was $20 less than what we paid for, upon questioning the lady behind the counter told us “this is what we have, this is what you get” we DO understand that things like this happen but if we are getting the cheaper room we should receive the cheaper price, she basically told us “there’s nothing I can do, have a good night”!!! We are not looking for some extra stuff, we just want whatever room we ended up in to be charged the proper amount. She offered nothing such as “we can talk to the manager in the morning” or anything. We showed her our receipt from Expedia and again, nothing but attitude. So the next morning, we got in touch with the manager who also told us to take it up with Expedia and through them it was booked as a standard room even though we had paid for the higher room. I even looked up on Expedia AFTER we got checked in and it still showed 5 available rooms, did NOT matter that we paid the extra $20, he then told us that “that’s the chance you take with booking through Expedia and not the company itself” this is a SCAM to get more money, not caring about the principle of taking advantage of people. All we were asking for was to pay the price for the room we received. We will NEVER go through a holiday inn again, we travel all over and that will be our last stay with them. How this business got a 9.4 rating is baffling to me, oh yeah, also the bathtub would not drain. Where’s the responsibility!??! Unacceptable on so many levels.

Probably it is tye best hotel nearby. New and clean, clean breakfast to enjoy while it is basic like this category hotels provide. Stay here if you go Amarillo. The downside is this hotel books fast and full usually whenever I visit. That is probably this is the best one here
