Crowne Plaza Memphis Downtown Hotel an IHG Hotel

This is a great hotel to stay at for an event at the convention center, which is about a block away. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. They have a free shuttle service that will take you anywhere within 3 miles and pick you back up when you call, which is great since there is not all that much in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. One night we took the shuttle to Beale St. for dinner and live music and back, and it was very convenient. The room and linens were very clean, and the buffet breakfast was nice to have (if a bit pricey). I would definitely choose to stay here again!

I recently had occasion to stay at CROWN PLAZA HOTEL in Memphis when going there to play a bridge competition with our team mates from Greece, Italy and France. The HOTEL whilst looking a bit tired from the outside, was bustling with charm and energy on the inside. An exceptional buffet breakfast greeted us everyday in the dinning room with the smiling and warm servers more than happy to meet and greet us with fresh coffee and good cheer. The rooms were clean and spacious too but it was the attitude of the staff, working as a team that would make me want to return. The manager Stephany was gracious and adept at running the ship shape organization. I take my hat off to this establishment.

If you just need a base for sightseeing then this hotel is acceptable. If you want more then consider an alternative. If you've seen any of my other reviews then you'll know that I tend to provide a fair amount of detail. In this case I can/will be very succinct PROS: Very close to city centre (although we were warned not to walk the short distance to Beale Street) & some good service (but also some bad). CONS: Very dated, very tired, lots of broken items (our bathroom tap was also very loose) and lots of dust (there is no excuse for dust even if you can't afford to repair things). OTHER: Beds - single Equipment - safe, fridge, iron etc (no hairdryer) Storage - OK

The property, staff, food ... all wonderful!! The area is quite and safe. Property location is a nice walk (20-25 minutes) to tourist area with "many" shopping and eating opportunists along the way. Room charge includes property shuttle which offers round trip (verify mileage limits) transportation (hours vary based on the guest population) ... suggest using the (hotel provided) tourist map and exploring by walking. Hotel breakfast (Memphis ...) with fruit was delicious! Will definitely re-book this property.

I’ve never seen a hotel as filthy dirty in my life and I’ve travelled all around the world and stayed in 3rd world countries. The room was filthy, stained pillowcase and sheets, old coffee stains everywhere and on the walls. The Staff (with exception of Reginald the shuttle driver) were unpleasant and unbothered by our concerns..(I’m looking at you Tatayana & manager Stephanie). We were due to stay 3 nights and left after night 1 to another hotel, after moving rooms 4 times here on check in, each room more damp & dirty than the last. Communal areas with dirty carpets, damp & elevator floors filthy. Even with early check out not even an apology was offered. There’s no help with your bags either. We didn’t eat here as if the rooms were anything to go by we sincerely doubted the food would be safe. We are not difficult people but there is no excuse for dirty, unhygienic rooms.
