My family and I usually stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Providence and itâs a pretty basic hotel but weâve done fine there. I decided to give another hotel a try (this one) for a change. What a mistake! It touts its historic building and decor, and it is very nice lobby. But I wonât be staying here again. The worst part was the paper thin walls, which I somehow missed in the reviews before I booked it. The people in the room next to us sounded like they were IN our room. We heard things we didnât want to hear in general, and on top of that at 1:00am I woke up to a loud knocking in the door which proceeded to get louder and more insistent. I didnât want to answer because I knew it couldnât be hotel staff, âwho would be knocking on our door at that time of night?â Then I finally heard the door to the next room open and the person knocking walked in and complained that heâd been knocking for a while. Thatâs when I realized they werenât knocking on MY door but another roomâs! Thatâs how thin those walls are! The bed and room were clean but that whole situation made for an uncomfortable stay and one where I couldnât sleep due to the noise. As a bonus, the blow dryer didnât work well, I never received the extra blanket I requested several times, and Penelope at the front desk wasnât particularly friendly (helpful but not friendly). Without the thin walls, I still might have given a 3 or 4 (overrated and not a great value) but I would have considered staying there if I needed to in the future. But no, never again. The valet parking guys were very helpful.

We had dinner at the Back Stage restaurant. Leanne was wonderful. We have eaten here a few times on our way to PPAC. They finally had a real wine menu !!! The food is great !! The brussel sprouts are fabulous. The stuffed mushrooms were good but there were only two of them. Very good salmon and burgers. They open at 5:00.
