This was by far the worst hotel experience, Iāve ever had in my life! DO NOT STAY HERE! They treat colored people terribly here! Upon check in, my father and I were treated beyond extremely poorly by the receptionist Amber. When I arrived at the hotel, she forced me into paying $120 more for the same room that we prepayed for and if I didnāt like it, to āJust leave and stay at another hotelā We were forced to stay due to it being an island with limited options. Amber was talking down to us in the middle of the lobby filled with customers. Also, the hotel is in terrible shape, none of the rooms or amenities match the descriptions. Even breakfast says on the website that itās during the weekend, only to be told by the staff that they only have it on certain days. This resort is batting and switching on customers and should be reported to the BBB to be shut down.

We stayed at the PIB Resort and Conference center over the Labor Day weekend. The staff was great and treated us fantastically The hotel is located 1 block off the downtown area and well within a short 5 minute walk (if that). The hotel itself boasts a nice size pool with swim up bar and large hot tub. Continental breakfast during the week, a golf cart rental at below market price. Stop by the Blue marlin bar at the pool for great service!

First, the good. (1) The room was clean; the cleaning staff clearly is diligent. (2) The hotel staff was helpful. Next, the not so good. (1) Despite what the pictures show, this felt like a party hotel. The pictures on the website do not show the huge banners on balconies advertising various brands of alcohol. We arrived for a family event on a Monday, and the pool area resembled a spring break movie set. Things improved significantly the next day when the party crowd seemed to move on. (2) The rooms are pretty run-down for the price. Room lights are dim, and things just look like they are being allowed to fall apart. For example, the shower curtain holder was falling out of the wall so that the shower curtain didn't really do much to keep the floor dry. (3) Everything just seemed damp.

I want to start by saying that the employees at this establishment were awesome! I never had an issue and they were honestly the most helpful people. The pools were great (when kids were not diving into a 3.5 foot deep part of the pool from the adjoining hot tub and endangering themselves) and we swam almost every night. My overall experience at Put-In-Bay with my partner was great. However, this establishment in particular has two significant problems that I feel people should be aware of. Firstly, the fire alarm went off on 3 out of the 4 mornings I woke up at this establishment between the hours of 7:30 and 10:00 a.m. When my partner and I took this seriously and reported to the front desk, we found that every time it happened, both staff and tenants were casually going about business in the lounge. Doing my best to paraphrase, we were essentially told that "This happens all the time. Dust or hot steam can trip many of the alarms, as they are sensitive. If there was a real fire, we would come and get you." This is obviously not a guarantee, as a hot fire can prevent access to parts of the building. I found it very concerning, as this mentality could very easily lead to a classic 'boy-who-cried-wolf' scenario where an actual fire had started, but many tenants believed that the fire was not legitimate and lost valuable time. It was also not a pleasant thing to wake up to on almost every morning of our trip. Real concerns for fire safety there. Secondly, many people on the internet have expressed concerns that credit card information used to purchase rooms at this establishment is being stolen. This issue pre-dated my experience there, and my partner and I discovered this issue only after booking the trip. The day after the conclusion of our trip, we found a false $200 charge on my partner's credit card used to purchase the rooms. She declined the charge and is now receiving a new credit card. Please be aware that this is a risk if you decide to purchase a room at this establishment. Although in our scenario the risk did not result in successful theft, other people may not be as lucky. I truly have the most respect for the people staffing this establishment and these issues did not ruin our Put-In-Bay experience. However, they were issues I felt people should be informed about that would have altered my decision about where to stay had I known about them beforehand.
