Suburban Studios Dickinson

We booked this hotel weeks ago. Showed up were told they cancelled our reservation due to a water leak. Zero apologies. And zero help. Did not receive any advance notification. Went to the Hawthorne and though they were booked the person at the desk recommended a motel in Belfield, got us the phone number and gave us directions. Do not book at Suburban Suites. Go to the Hawthorne next door or go to Trappers Inn, Belfield.

We checked in at the hotel in the afternoon on the way to Medora but didn’t look at the rooms. The gal at the desk was very nice and friendly. She told us the front desk is unavailable after 8:00 pm until sometime in the morning. We booked a room with double beds and a kitchen @ $109.00 + taxes & fees for 1 night. 7/3/24 The rating on the website had 4 of 5 marks - I assume that is good 🤔 When we got back in the evening and went to our room, was going to hang up our clothes NO HANGERS! I tried to turn on the TV and it wouldn’t work, NO BATTERIES in the remote and no power button on the TV - no way to watch TV. The photos the hotel shows of the rooms show the kitchen with empty cupboards - that is exactly right! Not even a piece of silverware, a dish, or any cookware. There was a plastic tray propped up against the wall however. In the morning my husband was going to make coffee (there were 2 coffee pods) - the carafe didn’t have a lid so there was no way the water could run through. He used a stir stick and poked it in to the coffee holder, it worked. I was going to try calling the front desk, picked up the receiver - it was gross! AND, the spiral cord had been taped on both ends with something that looked like bandage adhesive. The end next to the received had something on it that looked like marinara sauce. I decided I didn’t need to use the phone! This was the most disgusting place I think we’ve stayed at. If you think you’d like to stay here I’d suggest you check the room first!

Thrilled. This might have been the best hotel for the price that I have ever stayed in. The only thing that makes me question my impression is that the night before I had stayed at Duluth Econolodge and Duluth Econolodge was absolutely awful so Suburban Studios might look amazing due to the competition. I confidently give Suburban Studios a five

This motel totally lied to me about the pet fee. The fee was $50, which was not even mentioned when I checked in. They told me the rate was $103. No mention that the pet fee was half again as much. I feel totally ripped off. I didn’t know until I got the credit card statement. It doesn’t mention this at all at Check-in or on the Expedia page.

First room had hole in bathroom door, crushed can under bed, tv didn't work. Said they didn't have an available room to put use in. After I left a message on website, they found us a room and told us they would comp the room. The night girl was very nice. The morning girl was just the opposite, she was rude, dropped an f-bomb she thought I didn't hear, blamed everything on the night girl. Told me how much trouble she was in and they weren't comping the room. I'm sure she covered herself even though the night girl tried to be helpful. Not a great stay.
