Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charlotte Southeast Matthews an IHG Hotel

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Express Charlotte Southeast - Matthews on 12/19 and 12/20 and met the most wonderful desk staff person, Donna. She was very welcoming and helpful when I checked in, but she really ramped it up to another level when it appeared that I had lost my phone. Of course, I was frantic, but Donna remained calm and proceeded to help by suggesting using various strategies, that in my panic I had forgotten to try. I cannot praise her enough for her kindnesses throughout and in going the extra mile for me that day. I will be forever grateful!

I flew to Charlotte for a funeral that started at 1 pm. I arrived at the hotel at 11:00 am and asked if there was a possibility I could check in early to get ready for the funeral that started at 1 pm. Without even checking if any rooms are available, the front desk person told me no. I was a bit taken aback by her lack of sensitivity. She didn’t check, ask a manager or anything. My uncle came down from his room and told me that housekeeping just told him room 313 and room 320 are clean and ready. He went to the front desk around 11:45 am and asked if I could check in to one of those rooms. Again without checking she said no. I went to the funeral came back to check in …. And they gave me 313. The room that was available at 11:45 am. They need to train their staff better. Very insensitive.

It was very clean and comfortable. Nice modern accomadations. The breakfast was delicious. For someone who is allergic to egg yolks, I appreciated that there was an egg white veggie omelet option. The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because of the shower. The good news is that the water pressure is amazing. The bad news is that it comes out so hard it hurts and actually stings your skin. It could be solved with a different adjustable shower head though. Overall it was a wonderful stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Great space. Great check in experience. Beds comfortable. Like the room layout. Clean and comfortable. Easy parking. But I really think your breakfasts need to be improved. Just can’t eat those fake omelets. Some of the breads still frozen. Nothing to slice a bagel with. And not very good coffee.

Jay was wonderful, at the front desk. She helped us with great restaurant recommendations and other information about what is in the area. Very pleasant, welcoming , congenial, knowledgeable and patient. Thank you.
