Palm Suites

On the outside it looks good. The hotel lobby decor and guest bathroom in the lobby were great. I got to my room and was sickened by the smell of swamp, old and mold. The 60's called and wanted the furniture back. The 3 foot wide covered deck had 2 chairs, and I slept with the deck door open at night just to breathe. I checked out, and went to the Holiday Inn in Morehead City. My room was nice bright and clean. Palm Suites is a fish camp!

Great Christmas getaway, pleasant staff, comfortable room, and a great bargain. We are looking to return ASAP. The hotel is located in an easy-to-use, easy access area with plenty of parking. The newly refurbished gazebo and boat dock are great added amenities.

We had such a wonderful stay this past weekend…it was a tad cold and it was so nice to get a coffee and the front desk…speaking of the front desk, the staff is first class…they are personable and very kind…the room we stayed in was on the 2nd floor with a marsh view…so pretty firs thing in the morning!

Room 129 should never be rented to anyone before the room is completely cleaned and updated. I have pictures of the black mold that was found in the bathroom. We were moved the next day to Room 145, which was clean and well appointed. The difference in standards was obvious, but renting a room there is like playing Russian Roulette with your health. The staff was very reactive and friendly, but stated all the rooms are individually owned and updated and they have no control of the appointments.

The “suite” we stayed had two double beds, separated by a strange makeshift shelf. The air in the room smelled of mildew and mold, even with the air conditioner unit running the whole time. There was paint chipping off of the walls in the shower, and the shower nozzle sprayed water every direction but the right one. They left us two large towels for three people. The lobby appeared modern and clean and smelled of strong disinfectant. However, our room was not modern or clean. I killed a roach on my second night. There was a dehumidifier in the corner which had standing water that hadn’t been emptied or cleaned. For $200 a night and no breakfast included, this was a disappointment and I would not recommend it to anyone. I’d rather stay in Morehead City in a cleaner hotel and drive the extra 10 minutes to Emerald Isle.
