Cottam's Lodge by Alpine Village Suites

I enjoyed my stay at Cottams Lodge. Check in had to be done 1.5 miles up the road at Alpine Suites; however, check in was seamless with Eric. He was very pleasant and efficient. My room (Studio C) was upstairs and had good views out the front and side windows, which opened up to get a cross breeze. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were of great quality. The goon came with a full kitchen, and although the refrigerator was half size, it did have a freezer which kept my ice and ice cream. My room was quiet, large and comfy. Though I had no cell service at the lodge, I could get excellent service 1.5 miles up the road. I will stay here again the next time I am in Taos Ski Valley.

I visited during the "off season", before the snows that bring skiers to Taos. Although on the main road to Taos resort, this little lodge is quiet and separated from the resort area by 1+ miles. Everything you need (kitchen/cooking/bath facilities), and some things you want (TV/movies), are here and clean. Comfortable cozy room with a nice effective heater. This lodge, along with the associated Village Suites at the main resort, would make a fine place for anyone to stay: solo folks like myself, couples, families, or those in a small group. The property manager who worked with me was very responsive and helpful, even after-hours. We are coming back!

Super cute lodging right next to the mountains. Place is amazing, location is brilliant, and staff is terrific. We couldn't arrive until after office hours, so they talked us through how to get to the late check-in box where they left an envelope with keys, instructions, and a nice welcome message. Props for the really good directiona they gave. They also provided an emergency number, which was answered almost immediately and helped us through everything we needed help in to the best of their ability through the phone.

After not being satisfied with our motel booking in Taos, we made a last minute call to the Alpine Inn. The woman who answered the phone couldn't be more helpful and kind. They didn't have any rooms available at the Inn but had one available at the Cottam's Lodge. She explained it was about a 5 - 10 min. drive from the Inn, clean, and comfortable. After checking-in at the Inn, we drove over to the Cottam's Lodge. It's not a lodge so to say that your familiar with - I would say a house off of the road, surrounded by forestry, and possibly a house converted into a lodge with two levels and maybe ten to twelve rooms. Yes, the room was not large but more than comfortable. Very clean, extremely comfortable bed, nice size bathroom with more than enough towels, t.v., coffee machine & supplies - cups, utensils, etc. The next morning when we checked-out, again with helpful, friendly host, we walked around the Inn and enjoyed the stunning scenery. The Inn is family owned & would stay there or at the Cottam if ever in the area again.

This was a very nice room, reasonable cost, and convenient. However, the next door neighbor has two large dogs which barked all night. I had intended to rise early for some mountain climbing, but sleep was impossible. I know these dogs did not belong to the lodge, but the lodge has some responsibility to provide a quiet lodging to it's customers. They should do something, even take legal action, or otherwise find a way to quiet these dogs. Bottom line: If you want to sleep, do not reserve a room here.
