I have to write to say how helpful and accommodating the staff is at the Periwinkle Inn. I had an issue to resolve and Loren went above and beyond to assist. Even though they were busy - and I booked through a third-party site - Loren took the time to call all of the parties, negotiate a resolution and make things right. They say customer service is gone - not here! I'm a fan for life. Stay at the Periwinkle Inn on Cape May - you won't be disappointed!

Front desk staff very kind and courteous. Housekeeping was very good. Our room was on the third floor which I requested, however a young family with a child about 4-5 years old was two rooms away from our rooms. This child screamed and carryed on the whole entire three days and nights that we were there. This child repeatedly screamed at his parents and proceededto hit his parents as well. We could not even sit aside our room. In all my years of coming to Cape May, over 25 years, parents with children were always scheduled for the first floor. I will definitely think twice before coming to the Periwinkle again. Just to let know that that our three day stay was extremely unpleasant.

I recently had the displeasure of experiencing one of the most frustrating and unfair hotel stays at the Periwinkle Inn in Cape May, NJ. Last year, due to my grandfather falling seriously ill, we had to cancel our planned vacation. The hotel sent us a voucher/gift certificate to use for a future booking. This gesture initially reassured us that they understood our difficult situation and valued our business. However, that perception was completely shattered upon our arrival at the Periwinkle Inn. When we presented the physical coupon at check-in, the front desk informed us that we needed a "pink card" to redeem it—something we never received. Upon further inquiry, it became clear that the pink card policy was only implemented *after* our voucher was issued, making it impossible for us to have had one. Despite the hotel acknowledging their record of sending us the original voucher, they outright refused to honor it without this newly required card. The staff's rigid and unhelpful attitude only exacerbated our frustration. They displayed zero empathy for our situation and insisted that we either pay the full amount or forfeit our stay. This is completely unacceptable. It is the hotel’s responsibility to honor their commitments, not change the rules after the fact and penalize guests for circumstances beyond their control. The Periwinkle Inn's handling of this situation was not only unprofessional but downright unethical. A hotel that values its guests would have made every effort to accommodate us, especially given that the policy change was made *after* we received the voucher. Instead, they chose to disregard their own documentation and leave us scrambling at the last minute. I cannot recommend the Periwinkle Inn to anyone, as their customer service is appalling, and their policies are clearly designed to take advantage of guests. Save yourself the headache and book your stay elsewhere—where your business will actually be appreciated.

Honestly may be the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. We got to our room the first night to discover that there was a defective AC unit in the room that every 5 minutes or so would emit a LOUD buzzing sound for about 15 seconds. The unit was mounted on the wall directly above the single bed. I was somehow able to fall asleep with the help of a white noise machine but soon woke up because the noise was so intrusive. I had to move over to the main area of the room which was further away from the unit and spent the night sleeping on the floor. The next morning I told the front desk staff (who actually were nice ladies). They sent someone up to the room to fix it, and to be clear they did offer me to switch rooms. I weighed packing up and doing a room switch but since I was traveling with children I chose to just hope that it would be fixed so we didn't have to pack up and shlep everything to a new room. We left for the day and early evening and returned to the room at night. It appeared that they tried to dampen the noise with a sponge (!) but it was still bad. At this point it was too late in the night to switch rooms so we put up with it and it was a rough night of sleep as we we woke up several times because of the buzz (wish I could post the video I took to show how loud and intrusive it was) When I left the next morning the front desk said that the manager, Jen would contact me to make things right. I had no expectations on needing something to make it right but did want to express to the manager how bad it was to pay for a hotel like this and have to sleep on the floor and have a bad night's sleep. A gesture towards making that first night right would have been welcomed and appropriate. However, I got no call. I tried reaching out to the hotel to close the loop twice once I got home. The second time I called I was told by the front desk person on the phone that "Jen said to tell you she's not giving you any compensation". I was shocked at this statement because I hadn't asked for compensation. I asked to speak to Jen directly and they put me on hold then came back and said Jen wasn't available to speak with me and that she said to tell me that the issue is resolved and there is nothing to talk about. I asked politely if I could just talk to her to describe what had happened. At this point the girl on the phone said to me "this is an anti-bullying property" and hung up. I called right back and said that all I wanted to do was have a conversation with the manager and she said "if you have a problem you can call the Cape May police" and hung up again. Terrible way to handle this situation.

We've just returned from our stay at this excellent hotel. The Periwinkle provides everything you need. Our room was perfect for my wife and I, each day house keeping came in and refreshed our room. The pool was right outside our door, the beach directly across the street and a short walk. parking was provided, they also have a free shuttle service that takes you right into town. I forgot to pack my spare hearing aides and no sooner was I home then we got a phone call from the Periwinkle and told us that the house keeping staff found them and that the hotel was mailing them back to this Senior citizen. Just a wonderful group of people that make your stay there perfect. Looking forward to returning there again soon, Ken Fairben
