Fewer places these days have smoking rooms and allow pets, even in Las Vegas. Some hotels say ",pet friendly" but you need to call before booking to be certain. Some hotels have certain rooms oranentirefloor for pets. As you walk down the hallways, you can sometimes hear doggies scratching at the door or you here there colors and tags as you walk by. This Howard Johnson in Las Vegas has smoking rooms in the back building, two floors. The rooms are what you would expect from the low rate, especially the smoking rooms. The non-smoking rooms are much nicer, however, I was more comfortable smoking inside rather than outside. At home, I never smoke in my house I always go outside to the patio but at a hotel/motel, I am more comfortable inside. The bed was comfy the pillows were nice the room was clean, the bathroom was clean but it was clear that somebody had soaked in the bathtub with a cigarette burning on the edge of the tub.. nice move guest. There are a few places on the property that are designated for your dog to go potty and they have poop bags also, but each one of those dog areas is very small but I merely walked her along the perimeter and down the street a little bit, it's a busy road, so it isn't the best place to walk your dog along the sidewalk parallel to the street. But the people who work there are really quite nice and the hotel truly is dog friendly. My dog behaved very well the whole time she was there until it was time to leave and then she had to bark at everybody including a man in a wheelchair who was in an ADA room. The whole two days that we were there she never parked at him she just walked past him as we went to the car or for a walk, but when we were leaving she barked at him. If you are in Las Vegas for fun and want to be close to various sites and attractions near the strip or on the strip, this motel is a very good location with restaurants shops and gambling very close. I ordered food from Denny's once online and once in person and then took it back to the motel because Denny's is right next door and so is it liquor store that's open late, but I don't drink. So many things are within a reasonable walking distance, but a station for the monorail is very close and that can take you up and down the strip in 10 minutes I believe from one end to the other, and Hooters is also next door if you want wings. I don't eat wings. I don't know why Hooters doesn't serve breasts instead of wings, it would make more sense. There are other discount motels in close proximity to Howard Johnson, but motel 6 for example, if you have a traveling companion staying with you or even somebody who comes to visit and leaves and that doesn't spend the night they still need to be registered and provide their ID to motel 6. Howard Johnson doesn't do that. When I stayed at that motel 6 my friend and I were going in and out bringing stuff from my car into the room and the phone rang and they said in a somewhat angry voice if you have multiple people staying in that room every one of them has to provide their ID to the office. I replied, nicely, there is only two people staying here and both of us provided our IDs to the office. And then they said oh never mind, and hung up. Part of me wanted to go off on them for not looking up the room first and seeing who's there and know that there's two people in that they do have our IDs and then they could have avoided a rude phone call to someone who didn't deserve it. But I never had any problems with anyone at Howard johnson. I forgot my key in the room and I went somewhere so when I came back I couldn't get back in and it was in the middle of the night and I went to the front desk and I told the women there that I'm a problem child and that I left my key in the room and so I'm locked out and she laughed and she said, no problem I'll just make you another key it's not a big deal. And gave it to me and I chatted with her for a while because she was really nice and another time the night person working at the front desk was a little abrupt but she was actually very nice and I ended up talking to her for like 10 minutes and she told me that she's has an aggressive personality and I said well I think you could just call her direct and she said no I'm a little aggressive, and she works two jobs and she has a kid and she works very hard so she's not a bubbly extroverted type of a person she's focused on what she's doing behind the desk and she was stalking something she was doing something with the key cards that they make for your room when you check in, but she gave me everything that I asked for and then I had to come back and ask her did I tell you that I wanted a smoking room or did I mention that and she said oh no and I said what is the room you gave me and she said that's a s non-moking room and I asked if she could witch it to a smoking room. She, of course, said yes. And then we chatted about several different things for a while and I found her to be very friendly and a very kind and thoughtful person and I really liked her. So this Howard Johnson all in all was a good pick for me with a dog, a big dog, and a friend who I have been looking after who is not all there and a little slow because of a coma and seizures that lasted for five days about 2 years ago and he's never been the same. He's a little difficult to manage at times, and some people are frightened by him or they think he's strung out on something when he isn't. No one paid attention to the odd person that was my traveling companion. No one seems to mind. The first time I stayed there we were on the second floor and even though with luggage and a big dog going up and down the stairs wasn't a big deal, and the second time we were on the first floor which I don't usually like because when cars pull in their headlights shine and can shine into windows, but I parked in front of my own room so I didn't experience any of that I didn't hear anybody walking by I didn't hear any noise outside or from either room that we were in the middle of. They may have heard my friend having some issue in the bathtub and making noises which I continually told him to be quiet. But nobody complained. It's not the best neighborhood it isn't the best lot for a motel but it is close to the action of the strip and close to anything you may need and the people are kind and the rate is incredible and if you have a dog it's really great and the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I will go back next time I need to..

The room was sufficiently clean and quiet. The front desk staff was efficient and friendly. The location is near the strip within walking distance to the strip. There is a restaurant within walking distance as well. Room was well-lit and cleaned. There is plenty of free parking.

Too Much. It's Simply a Horrible Hotel because of the Management Team in Place. Top to Bottom. Not personal; an Honest Factual opinion from Many Many years of Hotel Living across the USA. Just a very Bad Team. Managers were Unfriendly., Zero Interest nor Understanding of Hospitality/Service and just No Care or concern for anything other than Fees/Deposits and Saying "NO" and doing as Little as Possible. Very little eye contact , Never Smile, Never ask or enquire as to the Guest Needs, Stay or anything. No Care, concern or Empathy. Just Bad. Very very Bad. No actual LEADERSHIP in the Hotel.

I had big issues with a woman employee apparently the manager of the hotel. She is incredibly rude. She cares for nothing, she is always kicking out people of the hotel just because she wants because she did it to me and I have been reading she have done it to so many other people. It was in general a horrible experience. I join all the comments of “don’t go there!”
