Best Budget Inn Owatonna

Place has mold and bed bugs. Moved a pillow and one was crawling on the pillow. Stripped the bed and found several more and tons of bug poop. Grossed me out for life!! Man argued that he will get me a clean room- not a chance!!

When I saw hairs on the pillow case I thought about stories I've heard, and pulled the covers back to check. Wrinkly sheets with pubic hairs. They weren't going to refund me, the guy actually said no one else complains. (I even showed him pictures) What, like I'm going to think "Well if everyone else is willing to pay $60 or more to sleep in dirty sheets there's no reason I shouldn't?" Nope nope nope, thank god for booking.com

The room was pretty clean--shower a little dirty, other than that good. The mattress was very soft, or maybe worn, I'm not sure. It's a cheap, convenient option right off I35. Nice folks running it, but be clear--this is budget lodging. There was some intermittent mechanical noise I couldn't figure out which disturbed my sleep, but the room was warm on a cold winter's night, with a good heater and sufficient blanket. What appears to be the family's residence is in front, with the hotel rooms behind. A smallish parking lot, but I think there's room out front if you're towing (for example). Conveniently located with a liquor store in front and an adult bookstore next door, if that's your thing.

This place could definitely use some work, however I think they tried to keep it clean. Personally I would spend a few extra bucks and upgrade to another place, but if you are on tight budget this would work.

I had to stay the night in Owatonna on business and this place had the best price of those I checked ($55 total). The manager on duty / owner was very helpful and was nice enough to let me park my pickup and long trailer in his front parking lot. The place is not fancy. It IS located next to an Adult Superstore. There is some highway noise from I-35, but it wasn't anything that kept me awake. My room was clean and comfortable. The sheets on my bed were clean and I slept very well. There was a decent selection of cable channels and the wifi signal was strong and reliable all evening. It was nice having the fridge and microwave in the room. I left before the 7 a.m. start to breakfast so I can't comment on it. This is not a high end motel, but it's a very good place if you are looking for a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. I would stay here again without hesitation if I get back to the area. And as for the liquor store attached to the lobby...there have been many nights when I really wished that the motel I was checking into HAD a liquor store attached to it. It came in handy during my visit.
