We had been loyal guests at this hotel for over 15 years, but unfortunately, we will no longer stay here or recommend it to others. Our reservation was changed due to construction, yet we were never informed. When we called to address the issue, the front desk representative, Ryder, abruptly hung up after stating that no other rooms were available and admitting they had no intention of notifying us about the changes. However, when someone else called back, they were told there were actually plenty of available rooms. In the end, this turned out to be a blessing in disguiseāwe found a brand-new, beautiful six-bedroom house near Spirit Mountain for $600 less than the cost of the two suites we had originally booked. The host was incredibly responsive, and the home was just 10 minutes from downtown. While weāre disappointed in the hotelās service, we ultimately had a much better experience elsewhere.

Despite what will be a very negative review, the staff did the best they could given a challenging circumstance. I lay the blame solely at the feet of management for not have more accessible maintenance and more staff on hand during a busy time. Our keys would not open the room. After going back and forth several times being told there was another door, a staff member walked up with me and determined the card reader needed a new battery. Two staff members attempted to fix it and couldnāt. They called a maintenance worker and we were told he would arrive in around 45 minutes. They kindly offered to comp some of the price and stored our bags as we walked around town. We returned 90 minutes later to be told maintenance hadnāt arrived yet. It was getting late and our kids needed to start getting ready for bed. We were offered additional comps but told the door wouldnāt be fixed any time soon. We ended up cancelling the room and being told our card wouldnāt be charged. It being late on a popular weekend, there was limited availability in town so here we are driving hours back home again. Believe the negative reviews. I almost changed reservations because of them and wished I had. The management frequently responds to negative reviews here, yet nothing apparently changes. Again, the staff did their best given the situation management puts them in. Do. Not. Stay. Here.

If I could I would give this a negative star. It is far from āsweetā. The building it self is awesome. There is a lot of beautiful architecture in the building however the rooms leave a lot to be desired. For the price I thought I had a beautiful room like Iāve had at Fitgerās Inn. Not even close! The furnishings look like something they got at a hotel auction from the 80ās. The seating/kitchenette area looked like someone had a food fight. Stains on the upholstery. I wouldnāt sit on the couch for fear of what might be on it. The lighting in the bathroom was horrible but it might be so you couldnāt see the mold on the floor tile. The sink area had a very dim light so if you needed to do make up you were out of luck. The bedroom other than the view not any better. The tv is super tiny - not that I was there to watch it but seriously. One of the lights to turn it off and on you had to unplug it. Iām pretty sure the king size mattress was stuffed with tissue paper. The pillows were about the only thing I enjoyed. Stay tuned Iām worried may get lice. In a nutshell great bones to what could be an outstanding hotel.

First - 1 ice machine for an entire hotel?? Checked twice - of course never had ice. Luckily o found an employee that evening who went into the kitchen to get me ice. Most hotels donāt do daily room service anymore. Which is fine by me. I checked to make sure it wouldnāt be cleaned and they told me they only do that if you request 24 hour in advance - so know that. That have a (free) parking lot across the street I could park my full size truck. If you go to Duluth to drink and party. This is the place - you can walk back to your room. But Iāve outgrown that and Friday and Saturday nights were noisy with people (masses of people) on the street and cars racing in the road. So you hear that till exhausted and fall asleep. Iād guess Sunday through Thursday is quieter. The room was huge and clean. The safe wasnāt usable as it was locked. It has a kitchen which was nice - it had one bowl , several plates, silverware but 1 fork - so if you need those check that. For the price itās nice you can walk all around town to the bridge and beyond. Couple shops and a lot of restaurants nearby.

Great idea for family's, 2- and 3-bedroom suites. Very interesting building, wish they had information on the history of it. But don't expect much in housekeeping, leaves a lot to be desired. We were there from Sunday until Friday and no one ever stopped by from housekeeping. We wondered when we walked to our room and saw garbage cans and dirty towels piled by the doors. We piled our dirty towels hoping they would be replaced but no we had to walk to the lobby and ask for clean towels. When we set the garbage can out the did empty it. Positive since no cleaning was done no tip was left.
