Weekend away in St. Clair & Marine City! St Clair Inn is fantastic! We went in late March, winter rates and beautiful weather. Front desk staff is wonderful, v kind & polite and not opposed to taking pictures of visitors by the fireplace 🤣 The remodel is gorgeous! Our room (river view) was adorable- soothing mint green & ivory tones, high ceiling, and the best: rainfall shower. Dive Bar- casual & classy, great bartenders, great view right on the water. Prohibition speakeasy- a must! They’ll make whatever you want or give you one of their creations. It’s gorgeous inside; cozy & sensual. Plenty to do nearby- cross the street for a bottle of wine, or visit the shops & restaurants. Hop in your car to nearby Marine City, the downtown is adorable, with shops & restaurants, right on the St.Clair River. Pro tip: check out Thumbcoast Theaters for live plays in 3 locations- one in St. Clair and 2 in downtown Marine City on Water Street. We’ve been to several, and the talent is incredible. Great weekend, shopping, winery, live theater, good eating, incredible views!

Been to this hotel twice before, was our annual destination but wont come back here ever again. The room temperature was supposed to be 68 degrees during the day and dropped down to 62-65 at night but the thermostat showed 39 and with the temperature outside 21-31, this made the room miserably cold with the tiled floor ice cold. No hot water in the shower, only lukewarm and ice cold. The walls must be made of tissue paper because you could hear everything from every room beside us or above us, including heavy snoring and the radios of all the cleaners cleaning the rooms, which means every noise we made was heard by everyone else. You have more privacy in a public restroom than in this hotel. Cold air leaking in from the balcony through the windows and doors. Only bonus to this stay was fresh towels daily and a discount from management and a lot of apologies for the lack of heat. Honestly save your money and stay at a motel for $60 a night, wont look as luxurious as this hotel but at least you wont feel like you're camping in a tent for $300 a night. WILL NEVER RETURN! Shame on you St. Clair Inn.

Online, the St. Clair Inn looked like it would be a delight. We were disappointed. When walking into the lobby it, frankly, stunk. Like actual *sewage*. I have no idea what was going on, but it was gross. Fortunately, our room wasn't in that part of the hotel and it was fine, smell-wise. We had a king room overlooking the river. It was very small. The only chair was a dining-style chair at the desk. No real place to sit other than the bed. Pretty terrible, in my opinion. No microwave either. The coffee maker only gave tiny shots of espresso. No actual coffee, and no provisions for a cup of tea (I don't drink coffee). The bathroom was weird. The shower leaked when the glass doors were closed. Wet floor every time. Also, I think they assembled the shower wrong. No handle on the inside of the section that moves. Someone screwed that up. Also in the bathroom, the shower head is very low. Unbelievably low. I'm 5' 11" (pretty average) and the shower head hit the back of my neck. (Not the water, the metal of the shower head!) Major error in installation. The pillows were a joke, frankly. We asked for two more pillows on top of the four already there. If you're not going to give me a chair to sit on, you at least have to give me proper pillows to sit upright on the bed! There was no breakfast included, so we thought we might try the on-site restaurant. Not open for breakfast. Major miss. We did the show in the ballroom on the Friday night of our stay. Dueling pianos. We expected a scripted show or something, highlighting the pianists' ability. It turns out it was just a couple of lounge singers with decent piano chops taking requests. The one was a passable enough singer. The other was... lacking. Major disappointment. Also, the supper included with our ticket was just "meh". The chicken wasn't hot enough, and the pork was dry. We wont' be going back to the St. Clair Inn.

The hotel staff were excellent Would I go back to the hotel? Yes ! But not the old part until it is completely renovated Would I eat in the restaurant again ??

This historic Inn was originally built when wood floors and wood doors and wood furniture was beautifully decorated and maintained. The area is full of large older homes sitting along the shore of the St. CLAIR River between Canada and Michigan in the US. They are connected by the Bluewater Bridge from Sarnia, Ontario to Port Huron USA. Recreational sailing in this area is a main activity of the residents. For tourists it's a thrill watching huge freighters passing through from Lake Superior down to Lake Erie. The Inn was remodeled a few years ago, which we didn't expect to be a problem. Ok = Our reservations and registration went smoothly. We were advised that there would be free Continental breakfast mornings from 6-10 and Brunch on weekends. Thus endeth, the acceptable part of our trip. Good = Our room was on the first level had a walkout patio with a river view. We were very excited an appreciative of this as the view was our main goal in staying here. The room was clean, had a nice shower and living space as we didn't plan on staying inside much. Bad = One thing that was mentionedmto us on arrival was that they were hosting 3 weddings this weekend. I didn't think about the impact on us until we went to find a parking place. There were only 2 handicapped spots for the occupancy of the hotel. We were also advised that there was only one elevator, which we would need to take down to get to level 1. Our room ended up being at the far end of the hotel which ended up being quite a distance. Later that evening, we decided to eat at the hotels dining room. The dining room used to be a fine dining establishment. Unfortunately, the dining room was now a ballroom for special events and had been replaced by a pub/grill. We decided to stay and have our fancy dinner the next night somewhere else. At this time, we were advised that the only entry to the bar grill was by walking down a couple flights of stairs. My husband and I both use canes or at times walkers. This was a great inconvenience to us. With the ADA laws now in place, I don't understand how they get away without being accessible to the handicapped. The meal and service were acceptable that evening. I discovered another entrance closer to our room. This meant no elevator but a much shorter walk, including 8 stairs. However, there were no parking places due to the wedding guests so I dropped of my husband near the door and parked on the street. Since we had skipped breakfast the first day, we decided to try the Brunch. Again, we were disappointed to find there there was no free Brunch or any Brunch at all, they simply used that word for their title on the menu. Obviously, I was beginning to get frustrated. We went out that afternoon with the intention of returning and resting before meeting a friend for dinner. This time there was no parking at all so I had to go across the street to a parking lot even further away. Be aware that everytime we went in and out I had to carry parcels and use my cane for support. If the parcels were unbreakable I would toss them down the stairs so as not to carry them. Of course, when we returned there was still no parking available. During our 4 days, we never saw a housekeeper. Not even a cart in the hall. No tip for no service. FINALLY, If your younger than 50, I suppose you could have an okay time here. Seniors and handicapped , should go elsewhere.
