Fairfield Inn By Marriott Port Huron

The good: convenient stopping point if driving through on nearby highway. Front desk staff was friendly. Shower seemed to be new and clean. The less good: Lobby was depressing and smelly (mildew-like smell as if there had been a recent flood), which was an immediate turnoff. Fortunately, smell did not carry into guest room. Room was a bit shabby and not a place you’d want to spend much time but was fine for a quick overnight.

Have stayed here over the years and have reviewed before and commented that it was in need of some renos to refresh. Much to my surprise, it seems this place has had a refresh. I checked into a recently renovated room, and it definitely refreshes this hotel. A nice modern room, great mattress and pillows and a new walk in shower didn't disappoint. Super friendly check-in experience (don't remember the gentleman's name, but its nice to see someone genuinely friendly at a front desk). Good, typical Fairfield breakfast, no complaints. Would stay again.

Booked a queen room, thinking it was a double queen bed. They do not have double queens, it’s a single queen room. Ok, my mistake, but I’ve never stayed at a chain that only has single queen or king rooms. Checked in to find mold in the toilet and hair in the bathtub. Pretty poor standards for a Marriott chain.

We had a great stay at the Fairfield. The location is very convenient, and having stayed at several other hotels in the area, we much prefer this location and brand. Continental breakfast was small with limited options, but fresh and tasty. Room was very clean and comfortable. Linens were comfortable & many towels were provided.
