Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Novi

Upon arrival, I was given a room on the 4th floor. The floor and room reeked of marijana. I returned to the front desk. I was assigned another room on the 3rd floor. It also smelled of marijana, but hadn’t seeped into the room. So, I kept the room. While closing the curtains, a vape fell from the heater. I disposed of it. Upon trying to take a shower, there were 2 dirty, used wash clothes hanging in the shower. In a 7 day visit, only 2 times was there anyone at the front desk. That included coming and going. So, safety is not on the top of their priorities. I will not return to the hotel again. With all the similar hotels that are much nicer and similar in price, this one is not worth it.

Room was clean and nice except for the tub had black mold in the grout and the TV was located in an odd location where you could not watch from the bed. Otherwise good. No breakfast included but had small kitchen area in room. Back of area faces a pond.

I stayed a week, the room was awesome and the sales mngr got our group a wonderful rate. The front desk staff lacks luster and the night shift clerk was totally useless. One day, I had a simple question about a part that was in the dishwasher. It became a fiasco and the maint guy they sent up looked like a gang member, all dressed in black with mask on* and hoodie up. He couldn't figure it out, so he started the dishwasher, even though their was no problem with it and only a few dishes in it. The housekeeping staff were a whole other issue and a short series of nice chats with them got way out of hand. The mngr did not want to listen to a thing I had to say and he asked me to leave. I have found that incompetent people get very insulted when their incompetence is brought to their attention and then they turn it around on YOU. I will NEVER spend another cent at Sonesta anything. *he was the only staff member I ever saw with a mask on

I had 3 stays of 2 weeks each at this property between November 2020 and January 2021. The experience was consistent. The property is not very new, but maintenance is good and the suites are well-equipped. A full size refrigerator really makes a difference for me on these longer stays. There's a guest laundry in each building, which is convenient. The gym is basic, just a couple cardio machines and a few free weights. The breakfast has to be ordered in advance. It's okay, I generally bought my own stuff. I found the service to be very good. I could have the room cleaned if I asked, and could get supplies when I needed them. Location is very convenient, near lots of shopping and restaurants. i was getting a good rate as well. Would definitely stay again depending on the rate and a few other factors. This property is changing brands from Marriott to Sonesta in a week or two, so you need to take rewards programs, etc., into account as well going forward.

On recent business trip, this facility was clean, quiet, comfortable with good front desk staff. Excellent location to many restaurants and shopping with three major malls nearby (Twelve Oaks Mall and 2 outdoor malls). Breakfast offerings had the basics and not all of it was in individual wrapped plastic bags - fresh.
