Iām going to be honest, we chose this inn because of the historic aspect and the things we read and seen online. definitely very outdated pictures and right upās. We wanted the historic inn and a weekend in historic Ellicot City. We paid over $600 for 2 nights, including a bottle of wine and a cheese platter. None of it was as advertised. The inn is beautiful..it needs a LOT of TLC inside and out. The inside was a bit of a disappointment because there is not a āhistoricā vibe anywhere except for the exorbitant creaking of the floors. The decorating is a bit strange and does not fit the bones of the beautiful house. We stayed in the Ellicot Room on the second floor. The house advertises a sunroof deck to sit and relax but the window in our bedroom is open for anyone on the deck to stare right in over our bedroom. No window treatments to close at alll!!! Not private in any way, shape or form. How is that ok? The rainforest shower was moldy, the 2 person jetted tub leaked around the cracked tiles of the faucet, the sink leaked all over the vanity from the faucet, and the air conditioning is pretty non existent in that room. Again, just not as expected. The $35 cheese platter wasnāt worth $20. The owner, Joe, is nice enough. Seems to lack the fine art of paying attention to small details though. I would love to tell our friends and family to book a stay but at this time, I just can not. There are cheaper, nicer places to stay in the area. I would have loved to see this place 20 years ago.

Such a beautiful place and an amazing inn keeper. We had the ellicott room with the jacuzzi tub and fireplace, and it was very romantic and phenomenal. The food was outstanding too, very delicious and flavorful. We would love to go again and see it in the spring too. Thank You Joe!

The photos and descriptions do NOT represent the present state of this property! The grounds have not been attended to and much work is needed on the exterior of the house. The inside common rooms are junky with a combination of period and modern furniture. A modern couch was missing it's back cushions. The kitchen is in need of an upgrade. The proprietor, Joe, is the only employee. He met us at the door wearing ruffled clothing and yellow Crocs. He didn't really say any welcoming phrases. Our terrace room downstairs was dark and dreary. There's no furniture to store clothing except a closet for our hanging bag. The bathroom was fine, but the temperature was freezing. There's a note on the thermostat asking that it not be changed. Thank goodness this was only a one night stay on our way farther north. Otherwise, we probably would have shortened our stay. The only compliment I can give is that the breakfast was pretty good. A note to the owners: PLEASE invest some money for an overhaul!

So disappointing, nice location and property that needs attention. Stayed on "first floor" i.e. the basement. Walkway had 6 out of 10 lights out. Gardens are weeds. US flags, from July 4?, are disgraceful lying in the dirt walkway. Outdoor setting cushions are disgusting. Shower in dire need of mold removal. Sheets are "historic" i.e. very worn. Room needs DEEP clean. Breakfast was ok. Host was affable.

First and foremost, I am grateful that the innkeeper (I believe he goes by Joe) was so accommodating to my breakfast needs. I told him that I don't like sweet in the morning so he came up with a tasty savory breakfast of fried egg on toast, a cheesy casserole and bacon and sausage. I was happy to eat that both mornings we were there. The house itself is old (historic) so the large stairs are super creaky, but we stayed in the Betty suite on the top floor, where it was quietest. [This is not a house for people who have trouble with stairs.] I will say that the outside could use some attention; it looked a little unkempt. And yes the water during my shower suddenly got hot and then cold--understandable in an old house. However, overall the place was interesting and our bedroom "suite" was roomy. I didn't mind that we had to walk out of the room to get to our private bathroom, because a robe was provided. On the first night I thought the bed was a little too soft (personal preference) but on the second night it felt wonderfully comfortable. The temperature of the room was perfect also. I gather that Joe is a newer owner of the Inn and it is clear that he cares about the people who stay here!
