Hampton Inn & Suites Kittery Portsmouth

Hotel was convenient and clean. Staff friendly. Breakfast area was clean and well stocked. Pool was much colder than expected, but a nice size. Disappointed housekeeping never came to our room during our 3 night stay. At least to take out the trash! They have tiny trash cans that are not made for infrequent emptying.

We stayed one night and found the rooms to be pretty much as expected which is a positive. The location is convenient to a number of restaurants as well as the highway. The complimentary breakfast was pretty much what you will find in most chain hotels.

The hotel was clean and very convenient for what we were doing in the area. The noise from the nearby highway throughout the night was a problem for me and I had trouble sleeping because of it. The seating area for breakfast was limited and crowded when we were there.

We spent a week in and around Portsmouth New Hampshire and stayed here for a few nights. The room was clean as was the hotel overall. The saltwater pool was warm, clean and quiet. Despite our room being on the back of the hotel the noise from the interstate was not too bad. Not non-existent but pretty good. The location was fairly central to everywhere we needed to be. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. I'd probably echo a few things mentioned in other reviews. The signage for the hotel is difficult if not impossible to spot from the road and it's far worse at night. For the earlier reviewer commenting on moving the pylons so they could park closer to the door...those couple of spots are reserved for Hilton Diamond members. We also stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott on this trip. I'd say that the two hotels are similar in price, complimentary breakfast and amenities. But this hotel fails at breakfast. It's an environmental disaster. Plastic cutlery in plastic bags and paper plates. Everything gets thrown in the garbage. Everything is single use, even down to the single use "maple" syrup plastic pods. Food options were limited at best. The residence inn by comparison had real reusable, plates and cutlery and refillable containers for most things, as well as a generally larger selection of breakfast options. We were talking with another family at breakfast about how tipping culture has run amok. Everything at breakfast was self serve. You get your own food, eat wherever you can find a spot, and then empty your own garbage and clean your own table. Yet there was a tip jar there for the surly breakfast attendant who provided zero customer service. There was one other minor thing. We found that the air conditioning didn't work well overnight. Some other guests mentioned that the rooms have motion detectors and the a/c gets shut down if there is no movement in the room. I only heard this second hand and have no idea if it's actually true. I would probably stay here again if I was in the area, but I would explore different breakfast options next time....which you hate to do since you're kind of already paying for breakfast anyway.

This is our absolute favorite hotel in the Kittery area! Super convenient location off of 95 and route 1. Next to the outlets, and some wonderful restaurants. Extremely clean!! Helpful and friendly staff, it is always a great experience whenever you arrive. They never disappoint!
