Arrived at hotel and had to wait over 15 minutes before I got anyone to come to the desk to check me in. At check in I told the girl I was there for a dogshow and she informed me there was a $20 a night pet fee. This was pretty ridiculous, since it's not like they even came in your room each day to do ANYTHING, but I agreed to pay. The hotel is still in major need of repairs from last years storm. Exterior walls damaged, entire 3rd floor closed with windows boarded over, Debris all over the grounds, the pool looked like sewage dump, no housekeeping and no breakfast, which they blamed on COVID but since the entire state is completely open, it's just because they are being cheap. Emergency exit door on our end of the hall was locked, so hope nobody needed it! Upon checking out I looked at the bill and realized I was charged $20 PER night PER dog. That wasn't told to me at check-in and I said that to the young man. He walked to the far end of the counter to a sheet with all kinds of printing on it, looked through and said "Here it is" Well that's great if anyone could see it. It was at the opposite end of a curved counter facing away from the front! I tried to contact the manager on multiple occasions but he won't take or return calls. My room for 2 nights was $444.95. I spent less at the Hilton Waikiki!

I have stayed at this hotel for previous visits to the Lake Charles area and always had a good stay. It's always been clean and the staff always courteous. I had an upcoming reservation for Thanksgiving weekend, arriving on Thursday 11/26/2020 that i was looking forward to. On 11/13/2020, I decided i should book the room a day earlier so that i wouldn't be rushing; I tried booking the room only to find that this hotel is closed due to hurricane damage and they do not anticipate to open until Jan 2021. My reservation was still being held, NO ONE at all from this hotel attempted to reach me to inform me of this, even tho i have my phone number AND my email address on file on the reservation. I had to call the 800 number and after a brief hold, yes, they confirmed also that this hotel was closed. She was very apologetic and offered me the GM email address. I sent him an email, tho i don't expect to hear back from them. This hotel is an 8-hour drive from me. I would have driven 8 hours only to find the hotel not even open. I will no longer stay at this hotel.

Started off bad and got worse. No breakfast offered at all. No carts to unload and we have a lot of stuff because we went to Destin. Get up to room and cigar in toilet. Non smoking hotel. Bed isnāt made properly and ice bucket in fridge and a bottle of liquor in fridge so they obviously did not sanitize the room or clean it. The phone also does not work. Oh the gym is open though, so donāt tell me Covid is a reason to not have ANYTHING for breakfast. Had to move rooms with all our stuff and no cart. Asked for late check out since we wasted so much time moving rooms. No, canāt even do that! Morning front desk person is nasty. Heard others say that too. Stay somewhere else!

After getting an evacuation order for Hurricane Barry during the summer, I made a reservation here. I was told by the staff we had could cancel the same day of the reservation with no charges. The evacuation order was lifted and I cancelled the room more than a day before we were due to arrive at the hotel. We heard nothing else and forgot about it. Nearly SIX MONTHS LATER on Christmas Day, the general manager of this hotel charged our bank account $315 for two nights! I called repeatedly and was told by the desk clerks that he listed us as "no show" and he was going back through months of reservations to charge people. They were instructed to connect all callers with this complaint directly to his voice mail, which was full. One desk clerk said many people were calling, and told me just to file a dispute with our bank. When I did file a dispute, the bank said many people were calling them about fraudulent charges from this hotel. IF YOU MAKE A RESERVATION HERE AND HAVE TO CANCEL, GET A CANCELLATION NUMBER AND WATCH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS.

This is an affordable dog friendly hotel very near the casino. I appreciated the dog area. It was near the entrance and well lit at night. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We will stay with them again when visiting the Lake Charles area.
