I booked a 3-night reservation at The Covered Bridge Inn through Agoda, confirmed and paid in full. Upon arrival during a severe blizzard, the hotel informed me my reservation was canceled – without any prior notice. When I asked why they hadn’t notified me earlier (which would have allowed me to make alternate plans), they shrugged and directed me to contact Agoda. The worst part? They refused to provide written proof of the cancellation and left me stranded in dangerous weather. Meanwhile, Agoda claimed the hotel had authorized the charge, so I was billed for a stay I never received. This is not just poor service – it’s deceptive and exploitative. The hotel: - Canceled last-minute with no communication. - Refused accountability or documentation. - Kept my money despite denying me a room. Because of their actions, I had to scramble to find last-minute lodging in a blizzard, paying twice for accommodations. To potential guests: Do NOT trust this hotel. Their practices prioritize profit over basic ethics. Always confirm reservations directly with the hotel (not just third-party sites) to avoid being stranded. To management: Your staff’s indifference during a crisis speaks volumes. Refund your customers and fix your systems.

The lobby closed by 11pm. We were not notified of where to find keys after lobby closed... called the number on the door and person spoke very vroken english and left me standing outsofe for 20 minutes in the cold and rain before telling me key was in the lockbox. The room smelled similar to a curry smell, no shower curtain in the bathroom, main light switch in the room turns all power off to bedside table so phones did not charge. toilet ran constantly. Reservations were for 2 people. There were only towels in the room for 1.

I guess you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, I left something in the room. I spoke with the hotel on June 19 and told them a friend would pick it up. She showed up on June 25 and they had thrown it away. She expressed her dismay, and they said they can’t hold onto things forever. Very poor customer service. They didn’t tell me I had a time limit. They had my phone number and my email address.

We were looking for a clean, comfortable and affordable motel for our road trip in this part of Vermont and tried the covered bridge inn. I would say we were happy with the choice except for my wife's side of the bed... it had a sagging low spot...she was not good with it.

I seriously don't understand - and completely disagree with - the current 4/5 score. It's a crappy roadside motel that is in desperate need of some TLC. The carpets were so gross I didn't want to take my shoes off. The bed was NOT comfortable at all. The window was "secured" with a broken hockey stick. The noise from the road was so loud it was almost as though the window was open (and we weren't even facing the road directly!). The breakfast was sparse and the breakfast room was too cramped for more than two people to be in it at once - I just quickly toasted a bagel and GTFO. I needed to speak with someone at checkout but there was nobody to be found. I eventually called and someone eventually came and was grumpy and unhelpful.
