This was a nightmare from the gate! I had my manager reserve me a room from Florida, I'm from PHX Az, I play in a rock band so I'm use to not so accommodating situations, this staff sucked they didn't speak English, at least stated they didn't? What country are we in here? Ok payed way to much the first room was disgusting dirty shower was gross the fridge smelled really moldy. I wouldn't put my food in it! So I went to office and requested to get a different room and she told me it was a up-charge, my manager snapped on her and she made the move said I would have to pay but not as much as the original up-charge, so upon my manager calling back pissed off she told me she'd pay it out of her pocket , anyway night shift was rude and I was locked out of my room not even there keys would not open door so finally got in and stay I had to do! I couldn't leave or my room would be exposed to all the crackheads and the drunk nextdoor, the I tried to have a cup of coffee and it was all de- caf so I called front desk and the said they don't supply coffee , I tried to explain there is decaf can I get reg and all of a sudden they didn't speak English again! Just a complete nightmare, thank you for over charging me for a bad dream, scared of red roof inns now, p. s.2nd Room was bad too! I had to go get mop from maid to mop my room mysef

Although I like very much giving good reviews and do so whenever possible, I'm afraid I have to give this Red Roof Inn in Joliet, IL the worst rating possible. I've stayed there several times for weeks at a time and never had any problems to speak of at all. I recently had another reservation starting on October 28, 2023. As usual, for piece of mind sake, I called the hotel to confirm the reservation. That call took place on the 26th The front desk clerk said everything is fine. She confirmed the reservation and a first floor room. On Saturday the 28th I called early afternoon again to let them know I would be there a little late maybe around 10:00 p.m. The owner/manager said that was fine and confirmed my first floor room again. However, when arriving at approximately 9:20 p.m. after driving several hours, the nightmare began. When giving my ID to the night clerk she said my reservation had been canceled and that I was on a DNR (do not rent list). Of course I said that's impossible and that I've stayed several times without any problems. She said she could see those past stays but the manager/owner put me on the that DNR list around 5:30 p.m. She could not see in the computer why. She tried calling her assistant manager but she could not help. I explained to her this makes no sense. I always keep my room clean and don't smoke at all. I knew payment couldn't possibly be an issue as payment is taken at the beginning of every stay and in this case it took place online since it was a weekly rate. She was sorry but couldn't help. Only the owner/manager could and she didn't have his number. So, after staying there several times without any problems, confirming the reservation twice, thinking everything was fine, I arrive there at night being tired after traveling only to find out my reservation had been canceled, could not stay there again, and that they were booked full even if she wanted to help me. It was insane. No one even called me to say there was a problem and just let me come knowing this was going to happen. She did try to help me get another room at another hotel. She suggested I write the owner (Hardy) an email and gave me his name and email address. After going through the unprepared late night search for another hotel and finally arriving after paying twice as much as what my other reservation would have been, I wrote the owner and explained what happened and asked to please take care of the problem as there had been some big mistake. I asked him to please call me to discuss the situation ASAP. I have NEVER received a phone call. I've called the hotel several times asking for him and still no call. I did explain what happened to another gentlemen clerk who remembered me from past stays. He said he knew why I was put on that list. It was because I violated hotel policy. I said WHAT hotel policy? He said I told the housekeeping ladies not to clean my room. Unbelievable! I said I NEVER told them not to clean my room but only that they didn't have to since I keep my room clean anyway and wanted to be nice. They did however clean it anyway several times and on the off days emptied trash and switched out towels. Now I'm thinking this is Crazy! Unbelievable! Insane! I've since called the hotel several more times and was told that owner/manager Hardy was not there. I still have not received a phone call or response to my email. I then checked with the Better Business Bureau and found that not only was the Red Roof Inn in Joliet, IL not accredited with them but also that it has an F rating. According to Google and F rating is the lowest grade of the BBB. This is written as a warning to others. What happened to me I have never heard of. Don't trust that Red Roof Inn. The owner, Hardy, is the worst you can imagine. I wouldn't want someone else going through a traveling nightmare like I had.

This place is ridden with bugs and bad service. I stayed for a 5 night trip (June 8-13) visiting family and friends with only coming here to sleep, but my room (237) was infested with bed bugs. I've never experienced bed bugs at any motel or hotel I've stayed at, so this was a first for me and my girlfriend who only stayed one night since she was with family. The last night was where I saw bed bugs LITERALLY crawling on me! I now know not to ever trust a Red Roof, since they both LIE and refuse to provide service. Housekeeping refused to visit my room after the first two days I stayed. When we were covered in bites and told the front desk, they told us they will "recompensate" us whenever their manager "gets to it". Pictures were shown and they checked themselves too. Nothing! It is ridiculous. I called and spoke to their assistant manager, Kat, who was nice but every time nothing has ever been done. Expedia has been great with responding back to me since I booked through them, but Red Roof continues to ignore me despite my calls and emails. They never gave anything back (not even 20 bucks for having to do emergency laundry at a Laundromat and buying bed bug spray) and they could care less about you, your stay, or your health. And before they reply to me saying they have "inspectors" and "pest control" come, I would love to see it actually be true than be living proof of their pests. I will never invite anyone to this place unless they get no reactions to bed bugs or genuinely want to take a risk. Cheap but there are cheaper places nearby that DO NOT have pests. Spend the extra money on an actual good hotel to have a good stay than waste extra money for bed bug insecticides, laundry, and a terrible experience.

When I checked in the gentleman at the desk was friendly fast and efficient. Arriving at my room I was met with the overwhelming smell of cannabis. It smelled like someone processed a thousand pounds of weed. Added to the smell was something like pinesol. Super strong. The maid left a used wash cloth in the shower. That was gross. Buggers on the bathroom wall. Where the tub met the drywall there was a lot of black mold. The toilet must have a history of plugging because there was a nasty plunger sitting there. The bed linen was yellowing brownish disgusting. The tv worked about half the time. Pulls missing from drawers. Parking lot filled with trash. A homeless man living in the trees. The traffic noise was actually louder in the room than it was outside. What a dump. Oh and no coffee in the room. I walked the 1/8 th mile to the office and no coffee there either at 6:00 am. What a dump. Don’t stay here unless you’re currently living under a bridge. Then maybe this is a step up.

If you are coming here for a extended stay on business you might look elsewhere. I have been here for a month paying by the week (all they allow you to pay) and all off sudden they are giving me 5 days more with no excuse or warning. They said no more long term stays. I guess they make enough off the Crackheads and hookers that frequent the place, sad to because besides the occasional drama at night it's a pretty decent place to stay and convenient having a good place to eat right across the parking lot. Because of this I recommend trying one of the many extendable stays that are close by.
