The Capitol Inn Tallahassee

This place is adorable! The property is a beautifully designed conversion from large home to small inn. We stayed in the Destin room, and it was precious. A stay in the room includes acces to cozy sitting areas with TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a patio. The rooms have en suites and each is themed around a Florida city. There is a beautiful park across the street, and there are pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We highly recommend this little gem for couples or individuals staying in Tallahassee.

The property is beautiful and our room was large, well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Plenty of parking, and communication made entry simple and straightforward. This is not staffed, so be prepared to handle things on your own, and we were fine with that. If I had one “wish” it would be that the listing be specific that there are no ground floor rooms and no elevator. Hubby has some challenges, so it would have been better to be prepared that we’d be climbing a narrow stairwell to our room. Rooms are clustered and share some amenities such as the microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot. Ice was available in the Inn’s kitchen in the giant freezer that has an icemaker. The common areas on the ground floor as well as the patio are very attractive and inviting as are the grounds. It is a very pretty location. Our room had a giant TV mounted on the wall. We aren’t TV people, so I can’t really provide any proper feedback on that. Towels are big and fluffy - hand towels and wash cloths are in the bathroom and the bath towels are in a basket on a rack in the main room. This rack serves as a closet as there isn’t a separate one in at least the Jacksonville room. Full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash were available for use in the roomy shower - no tub. A couple of things I found odd, given the attention to detail in the presentation of this property: fixtures don’t match in the bathroom - sink fixtures are gold and elegant, shower fixtures look like the bargain ones from Home Depot. Light switch is white, but wall plate is almond. The common area bathroom on the main floor is missing a wall plate around the light switch/outlet. It would be fair to say that I likely notice more than most as my hobby is DIY remodeling, so take it for what it is worth, because none of those “odd” things diminished our enjoyment.

Owner lists the entire house on Airbnb at a reasonable rate, then redirects to his site outside of Airbnb to try to rip you off for thousands of dollars for a single room. Owner tried to chat his way out of it, make it my fault, gloat about his fantastic rating on Airbnb, but in the end, he's running bait and switch scam, which makes you wonder what else the Capitol Inn may be up to. He's been reported to Airbnb and visitors to Tallahassee should steer clear of this place.
