Great Perks, but the Hotel Falls Far Short of Expectations We booked Loews Royal Pacific mainly for the location and on-site perks like early park admission and free Express Passes for Universal—those benefits were definitely useful and made navigating the parks much easier. However, the overall hotel experience was a major letdown, especially considering the high price point. Check-in was slow and frustrating. We were told our luggage would follow us to the room within 15 minutes, but after 2.5 hours we had to collect it ourselves. The room we were given was extremely tired and poorly maintained—scuffed walls, mould in the bathroom grout, and a general feeling of neglect. Not what you’d expect from a supposedly premium resort. We requested to change rooms, but the new one was just as bad. The entire hotel feels outdated and in serious need of refurbishment. Service was also underwhelming—a junior receptionist handled our concerns as best they could, but had to constantly seek approval from a manager who never made an appearance. Bottom line: if you’re booking for the park perks, they do deliver. But if you’re expecting comfort, cleanliness, or a true resort experience, you’ll likely be disappointed.

Highly recommend staying here while you experience Universal. Staff were great - thanks Kellie at the front desk and Cole in Valet :) Convenience is everything when doing these parks so here’s some tips. 1. Stay here and get your express passes for free. The express passes are an absolute MUST. We saved about $800US by staying here one night and getting express passes free for 2 days. 2. Pay the extra $9 for valet parking. So convenient and quick. Parking is only $45 with valet and it is valid until you leave late the next night. We checked in early to get to parks on a Thursday and left at 11pm the next night. They did not charge us extra for parking at all. 3. You can use the pool and amenities in the hotel even after you have checked out. Ask for a place to change after and they will provide that. 4. There is a hot tub, it’s hiding beside the pool, behind some bushes and is hard to spot - but it’s there. 5. Get ferry to and from Universal. Quick and easy. I wish Disney had deals like this - it would make the park experience WAY better. Thanks Lowes :)

It has been over 10 years since we have stayed here but RP did not disappoint! Opted for the Club room. The staff working the food area in the club lounge went about and beyond each day. Can not say enough about how nice and helpful they were! We enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the food options each day. Housekeeping was also on "it" fresh towels, cleaned, and left water daily. Over all just a great visit!!

Wifi is abysmal, we've tried on ~9 devices and it's totally random if any will connect. You can't even pay to upgrade as you only get the upgrade screen once you manage to connect. Went to the "business center" (a loooong walk from the hotel!) to try to get some work done one morning - open from 7am and the wifi is only for conference guests. Front desk utterly unhelpful on any of this, it's all outsourced. Stay if the parks and early entry (which only really helps for Hagrid's, everything else you could just buy an express pass for), but not if checking email, Netflix, or any work is important to you. Oh, and when we arrived a previous family's food was left in the drawer in the kids room (which has no bathroom of its own, so I hope you're a close family!). We were in the Jurassic World room, which the kids enjoyed for a few minutes upon arrival. The sushi did not taste fresh despite us seeing them making it, and oh wow, the meals here will the most expensive and non-remarkable of your entire vacation. Wonder how fast they'll see this review, we leave in 2 days.

While this resort has a few great things going for it - very close location and lovely walkway/water boat ride to Universal City Walk and parks, express pass for the theme parks, nice lobby area and bar, the rooms look nothing like the photos. Dark dingy hallways lead to dark dingy rooms. The pool area is large with no issues finding a spot to sit with great service for good drinks and food. I ended up walking to the Starbucks at Universal City Walk every day as the Tuk shop offerings for a quick breakfast or lunch could be a lot better.
