I only stayed one night at this Bed and Breakfast but it will now be my go to when I am in the area. Everything was exactly as advertised. My room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. Check in and out were easy also. The only downside was that it was too cool for me to enjoy the rocking chairs on the porch

We had a wonderful overnight at Captain Stannard House! In a quaint, historic shoreline CT town, we found this quiet gem (quiet, at least, on a Sunday night to Monday, I can only imagine it gets busy on weekends!) that we felt so smug to have found! After checking in with the amiable innkeeper, Diane, we took a short walk to the local liquor emporium, Cyndi's, that had all adult beverages imaginable, and settled in on rocking chairs on the Inn's stunning, expansive covered porch with a bottle of wine to feel the cool evening set in. It was instantly relaxing. Just up the road on our walk, we'd passed an historic cemetery with the headstones of some soldiers from the 14th Connecticut Army, killed during the Civil War battles at Gettysburg and Fredericksburg. Our room was lovely and spotlessly clean, but so too was the large and cheerful main-floor room, with board games, cozy nooks and a little pantry for water, ice, coffee and tea. We had a light but delicious breakfast there the next morning, after sleeping like babies in our comfortable King bed. We are already looking for a reason to be back in the area to visit again. Thank you Diane, and Merri and Marcus, we had the best time!

We spent a week in Connecticut visiting family and friends. We booked a room at the Captain Stannard House in Westbrook, CT, a 300-year-old house. The house has been recently renovated and has 11 rooms for rent. Each morning there was a nice continental breakfast consisting of bagels, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt and homemade breads, coffee and tea. Our stay was very comfortable in a clean and quiet room.

My wife and I attended a performance at the Katheryn Hepburn Cultural Center and decided to make a weekend out of it. We stayed at the Captain Stannard House Bed and Breakfast in Westbrook which is only a few minutes drive from downtown Old Saybrook. The rooms at the Captain Stannard House Bed and Breakfast well appointed and very clean. The bed was comfortable offering a good night's sleep before a breakfast in the large well-illuminated lounge. The Innkeeper was professional, helpful and a pleasure to converse with. My wife and I highly recommend the Captain Stannard when visiting the Connecticut Shoreline.

Beautiful, big, renovated house not far from the beach (10 minute walk). Spacious, clean, and quiet common areas. Our Captain's Suite , on the first floor, can accommodate a person with a walker & was the old dining room so it was really big. It had a fireplace, private bedroom, walk in shower in the bathroom (two entrances to the one bathroom), 2 couches (at least one was a pull out bed), a dining table, and 4 large windows. It'd be great as a bridal suite or to use for a family reunion. Breakfast was beautifully displayed with fresh fruit, muffins, breads, spreads, yogurt, instant oatmeal, and coffee/tea/juice. Carolyn was very helpful in finding things for us to do in the area as well as recommending places to eat. We explored The Gillette Castle & had lunch a cat cafe, Two Wrasslin' Cats....both GREAT! Another wonderful lunch was had at The Griswald Inn. Dinner one night was at Rock's Aqua - also very good and right in the Marina. I enjoyed a relaxing two nights here with my elderly parents. My only suggestion for improvement - a grab bar in the shower. I'm sure we'll be back!
