Great location from the freeway, clean, nothing broken. One review said good lighting in room and they were right. Complimentary water in room, coffee maker, and this is a minor, but I appreciate having a TV channel guide printed in large font! Hot breakfast with a number of hot options. The negative was a noisy vent fan from another room. However, the outstanding feature of the hotel is the friendly and accompanying staff. Every single employee we met went out of their way to ensure our stay was a good one. Whoever does the employee training you're doing an excellent job.

Terrible service. Room is excellent, however having tv issues (huge playoff football game), almost 20 minutes ago. Maintenance guy was supposed to come to room. No maintenance person. Called a 2nd time, now front desk says she called Maintenance guy AND Housekeeping, and she's page Housekeeping a 2nd time. Finally after 20 minutes Mainteance Guy shows up...and the batteries in the remote are not working. :( Wtf. Game now going into the 4th quarter, 1 pt game...it sure would be nice to have a working tv. Almost 30 minutes from 1st call to reception to working tv. This is at 3 p.m. check in btw, no guests I saw in lobby except one 40 minutes earlier, in a small town. Wtf. **This story gets worse. Heat been on for about an hour to maximum temp 90 degrees. No heat. I walk down to reception, she says put on low heat, to 74 degrees max. Says she has put in "countless" requests to Management, who have not fixed problem. So room won't go higher than 74. Getting a refund now, checking out. 1 hour to a much bigger town, hopefully much better service.

Upon checking in, we were given a room next to the kitchen, and the clerk mentioned it hadn't been booked recently. The housekeeper assured me the room was clean. However, I discovered a moldy cup behind the nightstand late at night. I placed it outside my door, and in the morning, I reported it to the assistant manager. She offered a $40 discount, which she later increased to $60, but I found that unacceptable. While speaking to the assistant manager, a housekeeper observed the situation and later approached me multiple times during breakfast, defending the manager. Despite my attempts to ignore her, she persisted, which prompted me to ask her to leave us alone. She reacted angrily, and I reported her behavior to the assistant manager, who promised to address it. However, when I returned later, the housekeeper approached me again. Nothing had been resolved.

Very nice room but the AC is very loud and lacks a quiet mode. The morning breakfast was excellent and the person managing the operation was great. The problem was that there was no sound absorption or blocking from the highway. We could hear every car and truck going past as though we were sitting outside. Our room was on the side closest to the freeway and so I recommend getting a room on the bottom floor and an odd number room that puts you on the side opposite the freeway.

My initial experience here was problematic. The room I was given had a very stale smell and the air conditioner/heater made a screeching sound when it shut off. I asked for a different room and the front desk immediately complied with my request. The new room I received had just been cleaned and smelled heavily of bleach, but the room was definitely clean! The room was good and comfortable with usual amenities of small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV. There was also a small safe for valuables. The hotel is in Yreka next to the intersate. There is no access directly via the interstate, drivers must go to the back of the property to gain access which may be inititally confusing. Undoubtedly, this hotel is the best in Yreka. It is in close proximity to main street (a mile or so) which has various fast food and some restaurants. The hotel also sells soft drinks, snacks, ice cream and even a few frozen dinners to guests. The complimentary breakfast is really good too! Eggs, bacon, cereals, cinnamon rolls, omelets, pancakes, sausages, coffee, juices. It was very fresh and plentiful. Desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Can't go wrong with this Holiday Inn Express-Yreka/Shasta.
