The staff were polite and helpful, from the front desk to housekeeping to room service. The room was quiet and clean. I was in town for the marathon and they were gracious about late checkout allowing me to come back, shower and pack after the race (I was originally booked at a different hotel nearby that refused that request). I would stay here again - great experience overall.

We loved everything about this hotel. They treat members very well. The hotel is clean and very functional. The hotel is close to everything. There is a beautiful pool and hot tub and a very nice outdoor space. The M club is a great place for breakfast in the morning and appetizers at night.

Needing a place to stay for our forced evacuation from the LA fires, I quickly booked a room at the pet's welcomed Ventura Beach Marriott. The hotel more than met our expectations. It is up to date, clean and our room modern & spacious. Its location is ideal for day trips to Ojai, Los Olivos, Solvang, Santa Barbara and of course Ventura. What a nice surprise to wake up and find the dog friendly San Buenaventura State Beach park just across street from the hotel. Each morning I walked our dog in the park, then on a boardwalk through sand dunes to the pristine sandy beach. The hotel's staff was friendly and efficient with a special call out to Autumn and Erica who were especially helpful in a difficult time.

The most unfriendly, rude, unhelpful front desk staff I've ever encountered at a hotel. Immediately upon checking in they were so unpleasant that made us wish we had chosen another hotel but as the wildfires had caused more than just us to be evacuated, this was our option. When I attempted to call the front desk for a question, it rang 8 times before the woman barked "Front Desk, can you hold" like it was the biggest inconvenience of the year before slamming the phone down and disconnecting. We didn't dare ask any questions or for any accommodations after that. We sought out housekeeping ourselves for extra towels since we didn't have our room serviced. The hotel didn't have many amenities of note and charged for parking. The room was fine but wasn't terribly comfortable. Who ever decided to use barn doors in hotel bathrooms? We didn't have housekeeping in our 3 nights stay but they were friendly when we asked for towels. The best thing about the hotel is that it's close to the beach and San Buenaventura State Beach. All in all we wouldn't stay at this hotel again but we appreciated the that we had a place to stay during our frightening and fraught time.

On and off I was a frequent customer of this Marriott throughout 2024, sometimes every other week. It's a nice hotel... That said I booked a stay in January of 2025 many weeks ago where I had to call Marriott to shorten the stay. Instead of simply accepting a change in the checkin date, Marriott chose to hike the cost of the room by $100/night. Was this tactic because of the LA area fires? Perhaps I can understand new reservations at a higher rate, but Marriott shouldn't raise the rate for a reservation already on the books where my change was simple to arrive a few days later than originally planned. In short I'm forced to cancel my reservation, likely to the benefit of Marriott where they will be able to sell the room to someone else for even a higher rate. My loyalty as a lifetime platinum to this hotel is now tarnished.
