Please don't make the same mistake we did and book this place, we had an awful experience. We left after just two hours of checking in because we couldn’t stand the dirtiness of the place. The carpet was absolutely filthy — walking around in white socks turned them brown within minutes. The dishwasher was rusty, and the glasses and dishes provided were not clean, forcing us to rewash everything. There were oily marks on several surfaces, showing a clear lack of attention to cleanliness. After raising our concerns with the front desk, we were offered a full refund to leave and stay somewhere else. However, they did not process the refund, and we had to follow up after a month to find out where our money was. Even then, they reneged on the full refund and kept a night’s worth of accommodation fees, citing that we had used the room for 2 hours - but this was never addressed to us when they initially agreed on the full refund. Do yourself a favour and strongly reconsider booking this place - just have a look at reviews on Trip Advisor in the last 12 months and you will see consistent experiences of the lack of cleanliness of this place.

Safety and cleanliness were completely absent during my stay at the Sonesta in Torrance. The hotel was filthy, with trash everywhere. The reception staff confirmed that many guests live there permanently. Constant party-like/ welfare environment that made me feel extremely unsafe, particularly when walking my dogs. The rooms are depressing and poorly furnished, and the bathroom was utterly disgusting. The kitchen was inadequate, and there was no housekeeping service whatsoever, of which they inform you at checkin. This was a truly terrible experience, and I urge anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere.

They will steal your deposit when you gave them back the room in perfect shape and on time. The employees never answer the phone and they have a nasty attitude . Ghetto hotel I would never stay again! Be careful don’t come here ! It’s too pricey for what you get anyways !

Good enough for a short stay. The breakfast wasn’t free when so many like hotels offer free breakfast. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. My colleague left for another hotel when he found his room to be dirty with hair left in the shower and cracked tiles. This place is starting to look run down. I had a short stay so I just got some sleep and headed back to the airport.

We were given no notice that the property was under construction (even though we made the reservation more than 5 months prior to arrival), that there would be no gym access, that the breakfast options would be quite limited as a result, and that we would still be charged the $7.50/day resort fee! We do want to commend Jeryl, however, for his humor and good customer service even working under these trying circumstances (and it was beyond his control to remove the resort fee).
