Winners Circle Resort by VRI Americas

I was initially a little skeptical after reading some negative reviews about the resort, but was very pleasantly surprised. It appeared to be recently renovated, and everything was in very good working order, i.e. no HVAC problems, great water pressure, lots of hot water, reasonable WIFI. Units were very tastefully decorated without being over-the-top fancy. Nicely equipped, spacious gym. Free Starbucks coffee and tea every morning till 11 was a nice perk. Would definitely stay here again. The only thing missing was a view

We arrived at the location aware one building was having some construction done, it was unoccupied. All staff and the rarely seen construction workers were very friendly and helpful. In fact if not for the covered scaffolding we wouldn't have known anything was going on. Oddly quiet workers. Beds and room were good sizes. Pool and Hottub were great. Firebowls and seating areas are a nice touch. Sadly it will be our last trip to the USA until things change in 2029.

We booked this resort on RCI When we arrived in the parking area, we realized that this resort was on a very busy road and we had not been informed that they are currently renovating - the hotel looked old and dingy, and we did not even attempt to check in. We just left

Winner's Circle is a very comfortable place to spend a relaxing week. It is small, and an easy walk to the spa and pool. Laundry is free; you just have to buy detergent. Speedway and another gas station store are across the street for convenience food. Denny's is a short walk if you don't want to spend a mortgage payment for the restaurants attached to the resort. There is a local bus 308 that runs a scenic (my opinion) ride up to the city of Escondido My only complaint about the accomodations are that the dishwasher and the sink are very small. Also, a broom is not provided. There is a long brush attached to the dustpan.

I booked and paid for a room at this resort several months ago. However, I just received an email saying that the booking had been cancelled. No reason was given. I called the hotel for an explanation but was put on hold for about half an hour. Someone finally answered and then immediately hung up. I called back several times and was placed on infinite hold. I assume hotel management realized there is an event on during the dates in question, and they decided to cancel several earlier reservations to jack up the price and make more money. I'm super disappointed and will not book this hotel ever again.
