The Oakland Marriott City Center is an average to below average hotel. If you are traveling with friends or family (i.e., more than two people), the rooms and beds are too small. Additionally, consider the below details: *the location of the hotel should set expectations *hotel reception staff is friendly and provides exceptional service to guests *the size of the hotel is nice with lobby security (some unfriendly, but others warm and welcoming); have your room key out to get back into the hotel late nights, *be wary of early arrivals (unsure whether the room was last cleaned the day off or many weeks earlier; there was a layer of dust in places), *the small double-bed room appeared cleaned in high touch areas and wear and tear was evident on the furniture and in the bathroom *the refrigerator is working, but you may need to adjust the dial to make sure it is cold, *the food via room service from the on-site restaurant (Iron and Oak) is below average (with rude staff delivering to the room), *the M-Club Lounge is not worth the cost unless you need space to get out of the small rooms. You can relax, spread out, watch TV, and snack on fruit, soda and chips; coffee is sub-par, *the valet service is as described by others here - valet attendants clearly take their breaks or periods of rest in the cars (confirmed by evidence left behind), *check out was smooth with a small wait

My Girlfriends and I were in town for JHope of BTS! I've been before for Yoongi's concert and stayed at a different hotel. I would def stay here again the location was close to the BART which was very convenient to get to the Airport, SF or the Arena. Next concert I'll be staying there again thank you!

Very nice hotel and the bar is very nice. However you can’t even use the internet. No help from front desk. When you have 18+ floors of people using the same internet connection it I guess that’s what you can expect. Don’t come here if you need to use internet in your room.

I stayed here for a convention in October. The location is just blocks from Chinatown. The room was very clean and comfortable overall. The hotel ran with the Oakland theme. I especially liked the crane mural/wall paper in the room. The view of Broadway from my room was great, too! I didn’t interact with the staff much. It said housekeeping was provided daily, but that wasn’t the case. I am giving them 4/5 Stars because the bathroom was pretty small. You have to close the door in order to have room to move around. The toilet paper dispenser was placed on the back wall, so it was hard for me to reach it (being short). I had to take the roll off the dispenser and leave it on the counter. Had they placed it on the side, it would have been better. The bed was a bit hard for me also. I prefer softer mattresses. Overall, it’s a clean hotel with great views.

I stayed at this hotel during the recent Dreamforce event in San Fransisco as part of the staff allocation. While over the bridge in Oakland, the hotel is located right across the road from the BART and it only took 15-20 mins to be at SF Tower or Moscone. The area was pretty good, with a selection of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel was solid and what you expect from a standard Marriott. Comfy bed, decent sized TV and a small workspace. The bathroom was spacious, but the water pressure on the low side. There was no breakfast buffet, but the Iron & Oak breakfast was tasty diner food (but not included as a perk for Platinum Elite members) The room service menu was small, but the food was tasty enough and the staff were friendly, even if a little understaffed for a big event. would definitely return.
