DoubleTree by Hilton Claremont

This spot was great. Best mid-tier hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Rooms were very clean. Pillows comfortable. Hot tub and pool area was very nice. GREAT breakfast. And service was stellar. Only downside is the double beds instead of queens. We splurged on two rooms given that and are glad we stayed here to do so.

Overall the hotel is quite dated. Our suite was very spacious but everything was soooo old and in need of some tlc (both bathroom faucets were loose and crooked, tile was chipped, sofa very worn). BUT… The location is fantastic, very close to cute Claremont Village, walking distance to Trader Joe’s, etc. Service during breakfast (which is pretty solid, lots of hot and cold options plus omelet station) is phenomenal. These guys work so hard and are so pleasant and professional. It was a very pleasant stay.

The architecture, grounds, and amenities (bathrobes, cookies, etc.) are pleasing, and our room, on the 3rd floor, was perfectly quiet. The breakfast buffet was better than average. But a couple of drawers wouldn't close and veneer was falling off the dresser. The a/c was like an arctic blast, directed straight at my pillow. My advice: ask for a room facing north, toward the mountains, or in any case not facing west. Even in February, the afternoon sun made the room too hot, requiring the antiquated a/c to be running too much.

This is a very clean well established hotel. I like the large rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows. It had a separate shower and bathtub. I don’t think quality hotels should have a shower in the tub. So that was nice. I don’t use tubs. They had a restaurant and bar which is nice . Breakfast Buffett was included. The desk staff were cordial and helpful. For anything you are doing in this area it’s a good choice.the rooms surround the pool area. There is ample parking. I spent two nights for a pickleball tournament.

Horrible experience. Horrible "suite". Horrible service. We booked a "Pool view suite with a King bed". The "view" was the back of the building. The "suite" was a conference room with a king bed. No couch. The bathroom had ONE bath towel and about 5 wash cloths. The walls were so paper thin that we could hear every detail of our neighbors using their bathroom, and everything else. We arrived at noon asking if we could get an early check in. They were snippy and asked if we were on the early check in list, since we were not, they put us on it and said they would text us. We finally checked in at 6:00pm. They then asked if I made the reservation that same day. (I did not. I made it 2 weeks previously). We paid for 2 nights. Left after the first night. No refund. Waste of $900.00 We have never had a worse "Suite". The fine print on this property says "Noise-free guestrooms cannot be guaranteed" Heed this warning. DO NOT waste your money here.
