I travel for work, and this place still stands as one of the 2 worst places I have ever stayed. There were greasy handprints on the window, the towel rack was broken, the floor was gross. It was sunny and 80 degrees outside and the pool wasn’t even open yet. The breakfast was pathetic, and you almost felt like you were stealing for taking something for the ā€œfree breakfastā€ The worst!

The breakfast area was fantastic. Good food selection and a beautiful fireplace. The pool looked nice. The room was small and not clean. It smelled like chemicals, looked old and hair in the shower that was not mine. My take-away was the employees were very helpful and friendly; the room was bad.

On a 2 month roadtrip this was absolutely the worst accommodation we had the whole trip. We arrived late at night and it took forever to check in. The exterior look extremely dated and the interior was worse. I walked in and the first thing I thought was where are the bugs(there weren't any). It was extremely dated and the furniture looked like it had never been replaced. The bathroom wasn't very clean either. We rested so poorly that we up at 6am and checked out.

This was my first and last stay at not only the "Quality" Inn in Roserburg but likely any Choice Hotels property. We arrived with our three daughters and checked in, nothing unusual other than realizing that they'd hired a really good photographer on a perfect day to take their advertising photos. The property was nowhere near as nice looking in person. Honestly, I was worried we might find someone trying to steal the catalytic converter off our car in the middle of the night. Then we actually entered our room. Immediately we were assaulted by a musty odor in the room. It had very obviously not been sanitized per their policies and advertisements. The more we looked around, the more grossed out we were. Some unidentified black and brown schmutz on the phone handset and keypad (which I found when I had to call the front desk to get a remote for the TV since the one in our room was missing). Other unidentifiable stains on the nightstand, the cabinet in the kitchenette, the walls, the sheets, you get the picture. Black fuzz here and there on the sheets under the comforters. We attempted to contact Choice hotels for assistance, and spent an hour on the phone going round and round with their "customer service" and getting nowhere. After that, we packed back up and I went to the front desk to check back out. Of course the manager wasn't in, but the front desk person called her, and advised us we'd receive an email from her after she closed out our reservation. This is when things went from bad to worse. We were supposed to stay for two nights. We did not receive an email until the afternoon after we checked out of our other hotel we stayed at. They had the audacity of charging us for not only one, but BOTH nights we were supposed to have stayed there (but didn't). I called and spoke to the manager, who told me she would refund the second night, but not the first night, since we had "stayed" there. When I pointed out that the room was not fit for occupancy, she had the gall to lie to me and tell me that she'd gone through the room and there was nothing wrong with it. After spending 4 hours on the phone with Choice Hotels customer service, I was told that they would refund me for the first night directly, but it would be via check, would take 4-6 weeks, and it would take up to 24 hours for the email to arrive to start that process. Unsurprisingly, that email never arrived. So now I am in contact with my bank, and thank God I paid with a credit card, because we are initiating the chargeback process for the second night that they refused to refund us. And to add further insult to all of this, the "Quality" inn has tacked on a mystery $150 charge to my credit card the night we checked out. My bank tells me this is not just a hold, but an actual charge, and so that will be reported as a fraudulent charge.

Was traveling in Oregon in April 2021 and needed to stop for a few days in Roseburg. Quality Inn is usually my first contact for lodging when a local property is available. Although I had a bad experience with this location about 5 years ago I felt it was worthwhile to at least call and check on price and room availability. I called the front desk directly and asked for a room 3 days in the future for a total of 3 nights. The price quoted was within my comfort range and I made the reservation. When I checked in, the person working the front desk was obviously not the person I had made the reservation with and in the process of registering I was told that the price of the room had increased by about 10 dollars for one of the nights. I questioned the rationale behind that and the woman behind the desk told me that rates often varied and that they had changed because my stay included a weekend night. I was pretty sure that they were required to honor the price quote from my initial reservation but I was tired from a day of driving and didn't feel like it was worth the time to argue with her, especially since her version of English was hard for me to understand. I completed the check in and went to my room. It was pretty much what you would expect a 1950's era room to look after undergoing a poor attempt to be updated. This is reflected in the furnishings, the lighting, toilet and bathing facilities and electrical outlets. The room was noisy and the parking lot was noisy. People were sitting out by the pool drinking and being loud until late at night. On one night a Harley rider made three trips in and out of the parking lot beginning with the first one about midnight and the last one about 4 am. Each trip was accompanied by a lot of engine revving. I enjoy the sound of Harley engines but not in the middle of the night when I need to sleep. There was little about the experience that was pleasant. Even coming and going from the property can be a major ordeal. The street directly in front is busy, very busy. If you want to leave there and go into Roseburg it works great. If you want to go any other direction it can be problematic, especially at morning, noon and afternoon high volume traffic times. The final blow came after checkout. I went to the office, told the person I was out of my room, got my receipt and left. Should have reviewed the receipt right there because after I had moved on a couple hundred miles I discovered that the rate increase had been applied to two of the nights, not just one. I called the office to get it corrected but the person answering the phone didn't speak English very clearly so I just hung up. I was pretty sure there was no way I was going to win that battle. Needless to say I will not be staying at the Quality Inn in Roseburg again. Two bad experiences 5 years apart has convinced me that it's not a good place to stop.
